Re: Dental Insurance
Most dentists that have patients that pay with $ offer payment plans. Other than that I don't know

Re: Dental Insurance
We don't have dental insurance. I've had major work done and I have 3 kids. It gets so expensive. I pay for the kids up front and pay monthly for mine. Mine is a continual bill. It also helps to keep up with the cleanings and regular checkup so if there is a problem the catch it early on.

Re: Dental Insurance
There are places in the Pennysaver that offer discounted dental plans...pay a yearly fee and you have to use their dentists. Also there is some kind of dental credit card....I remember it being offered to me one time when I found out I needed a lot of work...I'll see if I can find what it was called.

Re: Dental Insurance
We don't have dental insurance either. We enrolled in a discounted dental plan and we save off all work. I think we paid $180 for 15-months of coverage and it covers all 4 of us (kids included).
You can check to see which plan your dentist accepts and buy into a plan. The cost of the plan will eventually even out if you have to have major work done.

Re: Dental Insurance
You can go to a hospital with a dental clinic and it will be much cheaper (most attendings work in a practice somewhere anyway)....I think Stony Brook has one. My DH is a dentist w/his own practice and he himself works in Staten Island hospital one day a week just because he enjoys teaching the residents. I'd bet you'd get close to the same level of care, as long as your not having some new resident treat you on their own (in which most cases they won't, they're overseen by someone who knows what their doing!)
