Hospital and insurance ? - dr. was not part of my plan
one of the dr. at my c-section (I think it was the neonatel guy for my son ) is not part of my insurance plan - Oxford did pay him 350 - but he wants another 260 from me. (he is double billing me) - what can I do - oxford doesn't want to help me anymore - Can I fight the hospital on this or get proof of why he (the dr) should get more $$ from me???

They have some nerve.. Like you have any say at that moment and are you really going to ask everyone there if they take your insurance plan. Call the hospital and fight with them, and call your insurance.. They did something like this with Brianna and I just got it fixed and Brianna will be one next month!! Its so not fair, but I wouldnt pay it!

Re: Hospital and insurance ? - dr. was not part of my plan
i had that happen to me. two pediatricians came to see my daughter and they charged me $750 to do a hearing test and to discharge her. what i did was call the doctors and said that i did not consent to a doctor out of network. did not sign for it and was not informed. my insurance company then covered it for me.

This also happened to me. I ended up having an emergency c-section and the anesthesiologist they used was not covered under my plan. I called the insurance company and told them I had no choice, it was who the hospital had on call. They ended up covering it. I would definitely fight it! You had no choice.

Same exact thing happened to us with the hearing doctor. We said the same things above and got insurance to cover it.

Absolutely fight it! Something similar happened to me and after a lot of fighting the ins. co. eventually paid it. I get so angry when I hear stories like this. I swear these hospitals and ins. co. are no better than scam artists. If you went to a hospital that accepts your insurance and you didn't specifically request this doctor then you should not have to pay out of pocket for them!`

Same thing happened to me. I just got a bill for $350 because the Dr that did the STATE MANDATED hearing screening was out of network. I called the lab that's charging me and they are actually resubmitting and disputing my insurance company for me!!!
ETA: definitely fight it!!!!

Definately fight it. I had the same issue with the neonatologist who saw DD after the emergency c-section. I called the insurance company. They just sent me a check for what they cover. They also told me that if the doc doesn't accept this (which they usually do) to just call the insurance company back, and they will pay the balance.
p/s - I have Blue Cross/Blue Shield PPO. Don't know if that makes a difference.

I fought it with my husbands Union and they reinbursed me.
I am going through the same thing - but the union is not helping me - I acutally spoke again to the doctors office the other day and they told me to write a letter and they will see what they can do
