Deodorant for kids
I cannot believe I’m even at the point where I need to ask this. My dd will be 8 soon. A few weeks she was sitting on my lap and I smelt bo. Immediately I thought omg I forgot deodorant nope it was her. I nearly cried because I just can’t believe that this could be happening already. I started using dial antibacterialbar soap under her arms. It’s not helping. My dh is completely against me getting her deodorant in his mind she will forever be a baby with a pacifier dragging her blankie around our house. Is it really too young to put deodorant on her? I wouldn’t do an antiperspirant yet. Why do they have to grow?

Deodorant for kids
It’s actually very normal, can be as little as 6 when it starts! Since she’s so young I would probably initially try something natural like the crystal. Plus, she might think it’s kinda cool!

Re: Deodorant for kids
My middle DD needed deodorant the week of her 8th bday. We used Toms at that time. But she’ll be 11 this week and for probably a year we’ve been using Dove because she plays sports like all day, every day, and well...she stinks...lol and Toms doesn’t work that great.

If she needs it, it’s not too young. I use Toms for kids on myself and like it! No antiperspirant.

Native Deodorant. They have a coconut scented one that my daughter always asks to use - she doesn't need it yet, but sometimes I let her so when the time comes it's not such a big deal.
It works for me through Spin class ;)

Re: Deodorant for kids
I feel like its young. I wouldn't use regular deodorant on my 8 year old. Try something more natural. Maybe she was just extra sweaty that day? It's been really hot out

Same issue with my DD. We use fresh kids natural roll on deodorant. I order it on amazon.

Totally not too young! Please make her start using deodorant! I can remember being 8 and our teacher having a talk with the whole class about how it was time to start using deodorant, lol.

Re: Deodorant for kids
Not too young. My DD is 9 and she has started using it here and there. Bought Toms but it was too sticky, so now I did give her secret and she likes it. I was hesitant too but I don't want her to smell and be made fun of. Plus she gets a rash if sweating too much so it helps with that.

Deodorant for kids
My DD started changing for PE in school in 4th grade. The school required me to send her in with deodorant. I sent her with Secret.

I got her the Toms for girls. She is thrilled and my dh well he is coping. Hopefully it will help with the smell.

Re: Deodorant for kids
If you can smell her, it's not too young! You certainly don't want her to start feeling self conscious or for kids to make fun of her at school. It's a natural part of growing up. Also, if she has any hair growing under her arms, that will contribute to a smell.

Deodorant for kids
My dd is 8 and I had to have her start using it bc she would smell after playing sports and stuff. She uses Toms - we found a baby powder scent and it works well. The important thing is to just not get an antiperspirant.

Re: Deodorant for kids
Everyone's body is different
In 4th Grade our school said we had to send in deodorant for PE so I gave DD Tom's of Maine which I use and DD still use years later..

Re: Deodorant for kids
My son is in 4th grade (9/10) He told me that the teacher told them the class is stinky and has to shower/wear deodorant. I check him after basketball games and he hasn't smelled yet so I haven't started him, but I will soon!

Deodorant for kids
So many of my DD's classmates smell, they are in 5th grade. I wish their parents would realize! It's so gross. She has one friend who is Turkish, so I don't know if it's a religion thing that she can't wear deodorant, but our entire playroom stinks after she leaves like BO.
