Depressed today
I realized we really don't have any friends since the baby was born. Here it is a beautiful weekend and not one invite to a bar-be-que or get-together. We usually at least hang out with my bro and SIL but she is mad at me for not babysitting her daughter for the upteenth time on Thursday night. I realized how one sided that relationship is and they are our only family here.
Sorry for the rambling post- just feeling sad and lonely today. I missed my NY family and friends.

we don't have very many friends- or family- here either. Plus, my husband works crazy hours, so even if we did have friends, it would be so hard to get together .

Thanks guys- its helps to know that I have all of you I guess I shouldn't complain- I have a beautiful daughter and great DH- I am lucky to have them

If you ever feel like that you should just do something with your DC and DH. Today my DH and twins spent the day together in Central Park and then went to the central park zoo..we had the most relaxing and fun day just us..I highly recommend it. Other people in the park came up to us and said we are admiring you from a far, the simple pleasures of family..it was so nice to hear... Try and enjoy the rest of your weekend..

The only invite we received was to my cousin's DH's 50th in New Hampshire. She invited the entire family and everyone is renting hotel rooms (got the last ones in town) and going. No way were we traveling all that way with 8 week olds... plus we only have my Camry... not enough room for all of the necessary gear and we'd have to stop and pull over every three hours to feed them... and how would I warm their bottles in a hotel room...

I feel the same way sometimes. Usually the only gathering-type things we go to are with my family --- either at my sisters or my brothers since they both have young daughters too.
To be honest I didn't think about not going to a BBQ this weekend --- because I'm so excited about the nice weather and how many things we can do together as a family --- the park, carnivals, the air show, etc.
I hope you guys find a way to have lots of fun this weekend, even if it's just the 3 of you!

You guys really made me feel special- thanks so much.
My DH just called my brother since obviously my SIL is not speaking to me since I said no to babysitting and they have other friends over. Nice to invite us... I guess I am only needed for favors...
On the positive side, DH and I are taking my DD to the LA zoo tomorrow.

Hey you could have come to me.. we did nothing tonight.. maybe for the 4th we can plan something.. since we live so close...:)
I feel the same way.. We have celebrated DD birthday this weekend for the past 2 years but since both sets of parentss are in Florida we are doing it next weekend ..
i have some Mommy friends but the friends we invited are coming on Monday...I even invited my SIl who was taking the weekend to sleep since she is so tired fromwroking so hard this week..
BTW I still can not believe my baby is going to be 3 on tuesday....

Same here (or thats what my stupid husband says, he also tells me that the peole on LIF are not real)
We never have any plans either and its a bank holiday weekend and its RAINING cats and dogs. I am packing my husband off to a movie and the kid and I are going to the mall to buy some pajamas! (that is if he ever wakes up)

Don't feel bad. I have friends and family with kids and everyone is busy with their own plans so we are stuck at home too.
Today my brother and his wife took their son to rye playland. They knew we were home. Did they ask us to go? no...they asked one couple with kids and another with no kids. So my own brother who lives next door didn't invite us to go, but they asked a couple with no kids to go with them... and then they are always saying how it's cool that both our boys will grow up together living next door yet they never invite us anywhere to do do things with them.
So DH was like "F them, let them do their own thing and we'll do ours, all that matters to me is you and Matty, we don't need an invitation to go to an amusement park, we can go ourselves"..
