desperate for sleep advice here

db is 7.5 months. till last week, she was and angle sleeper. slept from 6:30 pm- 7 am, went down for the night without a peep, and took two naps, usually 1.5 hours each. been a good sleeper since she was born- never had to cio. all of a sudden, over the weekend, she started refusing second nap (right now, she naps at 9 and 1). just lies there and whines. i'll take her out after an hour, but she is usually so tired she'll crash around 3-4 pm. then tonight, she did NOT want to go to bed. every tiem i put her dfown, she got hysterical - like couldnt cathc her breath screaming. i couldnt listen to it- so i took ehr out. after about a half hour of me tryign to get her to bed, i finally put her in the crib iwth a toy, and she went down qiuetly.
any idea whats going on? i dont thin its teeth, she cut one last week and didnt seem to affect her a all. i cant stand to hear her scream- and since she has been a good sleeper, i have no idea how to handle this. lastly, is it ok to put down with a toy at this age? it was one of the rattles off her gymini, she has one she loves

It could be her teeth. Some can come in with no problem while one will cause them to scream. I don't think there is anything wrong with having a toy in her crib if it's providing some comfort. This could also be a stage that she will outgrow soon.

It could be a phase, but if it becomes a habit, you may just need to adjust. It's definitely a bot early to switch from 2 naps to 1, but maybe that's what's going on. You may switch between 1-2 naps and day and just need to follow DCs lead for a while. We went back and forth for a while too. Now it's 1 nap a day, but he'll still take 2 occasionally, or if he wakes up extra early. I think sticking to a schedule is really important, but sometimes you need to be flexible.

I had to adjust the time of the second nap for DD around that age. The first one is always 2.5 -3 hours after she gets up and then the second is usually between 3 & 4pm and then she goes to bed between 7- 7:30pm. My DD is 8.5 months. I would try putting her down a little later for the second nap and see what happens. Also if she isn't crying just whining I would just leave her. DD was doing that to and after a few days it stopped.
