I use the California Baby spray detangler and I use it whenever DD has crazy hair, usually when I get her up in the morning or after a nap.

I'm not going to be much help....
I bought Johnson's detangler spray & put it in after the bath but before the combing. I only used it once because her hair felt a little sticky. It's still sitting in the medicine cabinet!

Have you used conditioner? I've found that helps.
I've also used Pantene conditioner spray that you leave in. That works well.
