DH and I are getting tattooes for our 2nd anniversary - HELP!
I have no tats yet
Where should I go?
Also, where should I get my 1st tat? I want the option to show it if I want to or hide it if I want to - I'm too old for the tramp stamp though...
also, what could I get thats mommy related without using his name?

How about Cailen's handprint(s)? Don't know of a place although I've seen some nice work from Davinci....south shore somewhere.

they could probably scale it down ( i'm guessing that though).

I think alot of people get a butterfly when they have a kid (something about the significance of changing/morphing or something like that)
i guess if you combine that with it being for your anniversary, you could get a tat of a butterfly attached to a ball and chain?

I want something unique and completely different - I will probably talk to an artist but a waiting for some good recs 1st....

I just recently got a heart with filigree in the same pattern as my wedding ring, slicing through an infinity symbol. It's on my back between my shoulders. I love it!
I really recommend anyone here: http://www.houseofcolour.net/
I love the place, and have seen great work from everyone there.

I think they can definitely scale it down. Since it's for your anniversary, did you want to have your wedding bands incorporated in it somehow? I don't know...I wish I was more creative.

DH got Rogan's footprints on his chest. That's his only tat.
I have a tat I got years ago, but when we got married I wanted something to signify the importance so I got an anklet with a celtic heart...I drew it myself.
Both of us got our tats @ House of Colour in Bayshore (the place Shorty went to).

just so you know, baby hand and footprints are soooooo common these days. not sure if you care, but thought you should know in case you want something more original.
youll figure it out, itll come to you. read up about stuff like his birthstone color, born year of the pig, weight at birth, what his name means, etc etc
as far as reputable places on LI i can help. Lark Tattoo in Westbury, Lotus Tattoo, DaVinci & Kings Ave in massapequa/farmingdale are all good. it more depends on the artist then the shop though. if you want somethign really bright and colorful with not alot of dark shading check Miss D'Jo. she is at Lark. www.larktattoo.com i'm going to her in a couple of weeks for a memorial tattoo for y grandmother who passed in november. (sort of memorial, sort of pin up, cant explain) she is crazy booked up i made an apptmt months ago and the soonest was sept 26th, but we have mutual friends so she bumped me. if you want something more traditional though, then you should go to Civ at Lotus. bold lines and colors, old school style. Mike Rubandall who owns kings ave is also amazing. any of these ppl are amazing and will give you a great tattoo. remember though, there will def be a wait for someone who is really great.
as for placement on the body. you can do neck/upper middle back, inner ankle, wrist if its small, inner upper arm (but holy ouch!)
certain spots hurt more than others but it comes down to what size needle the tattooist is using, how long you sit for and how heavy handed they are.
best of luck! if you have any questions FM me or call me at the shop.
D'Jo on Miami Ink. (doesnt justify her work)

I think if they are his actual footprints, than it is VERY original, IMO

My trainer has a tat of her kids zodiac signs - the tat looks amazing. Maybe your ankle or top of your foot - both those places can be exposed or hidden. Or maybe top of your back...

Re: DH and I are getting tattooes for our 2nd anniversary - HELP!
i got 2 of my 4 done at richie's in elmont (on hempstead tpke). it doesn't look like much from the outside but i have been nothing but happy with their work and the artists. (richie himself did one of mine and he was friendly and talkative the whole time, making sure i was comfortable.)

There is a celtic motherhood knot. You can get the lines in 3D with shading or just a simple line, and have dots for DH oand/or your children. And you can have pink dots for girls, blue for boys, different colors for each. Image Attachment(s):

Lotus Tattoo
I can vouch for Johnny Truant and Civ at Lotus. My friend gets all-black tattoos with Civ and she's always been happy with the work. I got my flower with Johnny but he's away till next month.
Civ tends to book up months in advance and I'm sure Johnny will be backed up for weeks after he gets back too.

Is there something that will always remind fo your son? My friend got a tatoo of a turtle for her son, with his birthdate on it, because the first toy he was attached to was a turtle & turtles remind her of him.

Thanks ladies - I spoke to Civ - I have to call him again to schedule something in September, but I think I may go with him - I'm still not sure what I want - I don't like celtic knots or tribal... not my style - but I'm still trying to figure out what IS my style!!!
