DH and working Night Shift
Ugh so my DH might have to work night shifts, its not confirmed yet but I am getting nervous. He is now working Sun, Mon, Tues 6am to 2pm and Weds and Thurs 9:30am-6pm and on Wed/Thur he takes our DD to my in-laws. If he does Midnights he will obviously want to sleep when he comes home so who would watch her.
In general how do you handle your DH working night shift?
Thanks!

Re: DH and working Night Shift
when my husband works midnights, i take the baby to the sitters house. My son goes to prek.
my husband will sleep from 7:30am-10:30am. He'll grab my son at prek at 11:15 and then the baby at 11:30 from the sitter.
He then goes to sleep before his shift sleeping from 7-10pm.
I know a lot of guys who sleep the whole 7-8 hours in one block. My husband doesn't like doing that because he feels he misses the whole day.

ironically i saw something on fb that said before the industrial resolution we would live in 8hr shifts with 4hour sleep breaks in between. Up 8 hours, sleep 4 then up 8 more then sleep 4 more. I need 4 hours sleep to function. Otherwise I can go about 12hrs before I need another 4.
I have no advice for OP since I use pre-k and before that daycare. I dont think we could function with out it. Right now, he picks her up from school around 6pm and I get home around 10pm. We leave our house all together around 745a

DH and working Night Shift
I hate when my DH works the night shift but he also gets to sleep (sometimes) if he doesn't have a run (FDNY). He watches the baby regardless of him needing sleep or not. He naps when my DS naps and tries to go to bed early - I'll take the baby at night so he can get a full night. I just miss his home to help me with everything; it's hard to get everyone out the door in the morning - I feel like a single mom.
