dialation? How much longer do I have?

Hello!... I know I haven't posted in a while, but as I get closer to the date, I find myself with so many new questions!.... I went and had my first internal at 35 weeks Monday.... Doc said I am 1cm dialated and starting to efface... she doesn't think I am going to make it to due date (nov. 28)... for those that have dialated, how long does it take from this point for labor to begin? I am getting so nervous!... Didn't expect it this soon..........

Don't want to burst your bubble, but honestly early dialtion and effacement doesn't mean much. I friend of mine was 2 cm dialted at 34 weeks and she ended up delivering a week late!

i was 1cm dilated and 50% effaced at 36 weeks. i didn't give birth until 39 weeks, 4 days - at which point i had been at 3cm dilated and 90% effaced for a week and a half!

so don't worry, being dilated/effaced at this point really doesn't mean much...

I was 1cm dilated for 3 weeks and never dilated any more than that. I don't really think you can use that as an indicator as to when you'll go. Hang in there!
