Diaper rash cream - FYI

I went to a diapering class yesterday at BRU and I know this was discussed the other day but I wanted to update you girls

We were told that you DO NOT need to use the diaper rash cream every time the baby needs a change, only if they have diaper rash...

They also said to let your baby go diaperless for a few minutes to really dry off their bottom....I don't know how this would work, would we have pee all over the place?

I tried that in the begininning with my DD, and she pooped all over, so I now put the diaper on right away!Chat Icon

I wouldn't let her hang free, but i do dry her bottom off before i put the diaper back on.

I dont use diaper creme every diaper change either, only when there's a rash, no need for meds if no issue.

I do use good ole fashion vaseline after i dry her coolie off, it protects her skin.

DD has very sensitive skin that's very prone to eczema.

I blow on my step daughters bottom to make sure its dry and she giggles and loves it while I do it! I don't use diaper cream unless she has a rash.

I can't even let Steven go diaper free while changing his diaper. That kid's got impecable aim!Chat Icon

I just want to say not to follow every single thing to a "T". I started by not putting anything on DS and he got all bumpy and red. the ped told me to put it on him at every diaper change because it turns out, he gets irritated from the diapers. He is totally allergic to Huggies, so I can't use them at all. And, if someone is watching him i always know if they missed the A&D because he gets irritated. Every baby is different.
