Diapering/First Aid Supply Basics
Ok, what the heck do I NEED to have on hand for when the baby arrives in terms of diapering and/or health supplies, shampoos, etc. I don't want to overmedicate or overtreat the baby, so what has been suggested to all of you?
Thanks!!
ETA: Besides diapers, of course! I'm clueless, but not that clueless!!

Re: Diapering/First Aid Supply Basics
Im a few days behind ya. I still have to get liek a baby relief kit of some sort (tylenol, etc.) they sell it at BRU. Also u need diaper rash cream and thermometer etc. I got a kit from BRU off my registry its by Blue Cross I believe it has the thermometer, nail clipper etc. in it. Also i am going to get the Pampers Sensitive Wipes since that is really reccommended on the parenting board.

Re: Diapering/First Aid Supply Basics
the only medication that you should use for the first 6 months is infant tylenol. Your ped will tell you how much to give - since it goes by weight.
You can use mylecon gas drops, they say, after every feeding, if you have a very fussy baby, but they definitely come in handy at times and worth a try in the middle of the night with a fusssy baby.
A&D ointment for boys
vaseline for the belly button
only get baby powder made from corn starch - never use the talc version (it can be bad for their lungs) but you can use plain corn starch as well. I actually used it for DS's neck, when he would drip milk out and got a little fungal infection - it cleared it up right away
Aquaphor is great for skin and diapering. Also good to use for cradlecap.
diaper cream of your choice is good to have around too. I like butt paste.
a regular babywash is fine for the beginning. You have to sponge bathe them until the belly button falls off anyway - so also make sure that you have some washclothes

Re: Diapering/First Aid Supply Basics
*Baby Tylenol *Mylicon *Rectal Thermometer *Vaseline-Great for diaper changes-nothing sticks to coolie, especially baby's first tar like poos *Washcloths *Some kind of Head to Toe baby wash *Mild Lotion-My Fav is Aveeno Baby *Baby Emery boards for nails-easier than clippers cause their nails are so soft *Diaper rash cream-I love balmex & Butt paste-I only use these at night and when a rash starts to pop up *Sensitive Wipes
