Did any get repeated UTI's during their pregnancy?
I have never had a UTI in my life and I have had 3 in the past month and a half. I just found out about the third one and am so scared because I ended up getting C Dif, an awful bacterial intestine infection from being on antibiotics from the first two UTI;s.....now I have another one and Im not even done taking the medicine for the C Dif. I just got out of the hospital a week ago from the C Dif. I was wondering if anyone else got constant UTI's and if their drs. gave any advice on how to keep them away. TIA!

I am not preggo but I have had them my entire life. Drink lots of water and make sure you urinate before and after sex. Drink cranberry juice by the gallon or take cranberry otc if the doctor gives you permission. good luck!

I was getting them in the beginning and my midwife told me to drink tons of water and take CranActin.
The next time you're on antibiotics try drinking kefir (its at health food stores), eating yogurt nd whole grains. My MIL had C-Diff and she did that and got better.

Re: Did any get repeated UTI's during their pregnancy?
Yup, I've NEVER had an infection or UTI infection in my life until I get pregnant. I've been pregnant 3x. Each time I've had an infection. This pregnancy I had a severe infection that chewed away at my cervix, went on antibiotics then got a yeast infection. I asked the dr. what I could do to prevent it and she said Nothing, You're pregnant great!

Re: Did any get repeated UTI's during their pregnancy?
I had one last week but didn't have any w/ my 1st pregnancy. Dr. said it's very normal to have them during pregnancy.
He suggested drinking plenty of water, more than you would non-preggo, and don't put off going to the bathroom.

Re: Did any get repeated UTI's during their pregnancy?
I had one a few years ago, not during pregnancy, but whew... my heart goes out to you. I'm not sure which was more painful the UTI or a Kidney Stone I had about 8 months before the UTI (it was a bad year for my urine).
I do eat a yogurt every day. I try to drink a little cranberry juice - diluted in some water though b/c cranberry juice as good as it is for UTI prevention is bad for my kidney stone issue I live my life in fear of UTI's and have heard of women getting them in pregnancy.
Drink lots of water and I hope you don't continue to get these.

I was told by my urologist and ob that all my cultures were coming up positive for UTIs. I was on antibiotic after antibiotic, and nothing seemed to clear it up. (This was going on for YEARS)
Finally, I saw a urology specialist that came highly recommended in NYC. He looked at my years of urine cultures (which all came up positive for some bacteria or another), and because the white counts were all very low, he felt that I NEVER had a UTI at all.
It is not that easy to get a clean catch from a woman due to how we are built.
So, the only way to be sure you get a "clean" sample of urine is for your OB/urologist to get the urine via catheter. I was terrified, but my OB was wonderful and I didn't even feel it. Woudln't you know, after YEARS of having UTIs, when we got back the urine culture done via catheter, it was completely negative.
You may want to ask about your white count, or ask your MD about a cath. sample. Most MDs I spoke with rolled their eyes about the cath sample, but I insisted and insisted and they eventually gave in and performed it.
Good luck.

Thanks. I called my nephrologist ( I also have a kidney disease) and she said that her office wouldnt normally treat such a low count, but that since Im pregnant and have been having way too early contractions that they Ob/GYN may want to treat it. Now Im waiting to hear from them. At least I know that it is a very low count that normally wouldnt be an issue and am hoping that I wont need another antibiotic at my nephrologists suggestion. They are just monitoring me to see if the count goes up. Thanks for the help!
