Did any mommies change the car seat yet?
From the one that comes with the travel system to the bigger one? I feel that Jared doesn't have any room when I put him in his car seat and he has his big bulky jacket on. He's about 20 pounds...I know the next seat says 25 pounds and up. But, I still use that car seat in the stroller when I go out...

You really shouldn't change the car seat until they are one. I think they are supposed to be a certain weight and certain height before you change them. I would speak to your pediatrician before you change it.
Have you tried moving the straps on the car seat to the next level?
After reading the other posts, I realize, I am incorrect. I thought you were referring to moving the seat forward. Like the other ladies indicate, yes you can change to the larger one as long as it's rear facing.

Not yet. Christopher doesn't weight much at all. He's about 11 lbs now, BUT he's long and he just keeps on growing. A month ago, he was about 23.5 inches and I know the car seat's only to 26 inches. I'm debating whether I should change it already or not. I love having the convenience of the car seat that I can lug everywhere.

Re: Did any mommies change the car seat yet?
We changed Nate into the convertible carseat 3 weeks ago (of course it's rear-facing). He was under the weight limit but past the height limit of 26 in (he was 27.5 in).
I keep the infant seat in the car for trips to Target, grocery store, etc.... When he can sit up for long periods of time without leaning forward I'll put him in the shopping cart.
He's so much happier in the new seat. He doesn't cry anymore...

Re: Did any mommies change the car seat yet?
Yes. We changed the carseat about 2 months ago when my daughter was about 5 months old. We had the peg perrego carrier and it was getting really snug. I think the Graco's have a bit more room. My daughter was probably 16-17 pounds when we made the switch but was at least 26 inches long which I believe to be the length limit. We have the Britax Marathon now, rear facing of course. I think that the Britax could be used for younger babies as well, so it is not a law to have them in the carrier until they are 1. My daughter would have to be pried out if that were the case.

I had to switch Andrew to his convertible seat (we have the Marathon) at about 4 months old because he was simply too big for the infant seat. We just kept it rear facing until he was 1.

We had to change Sarah from the infant seat to the convertible seat at five months since she was 26 inches.

I knew to switch Jillian when she just did not look very confortable in it. I think she was 9 months old and about 17 lbs...the seat also says on the graco no more than 26 inches...

Jared is 26 1/2 inches, so I think I need to get him in the seat...I also moved the straps and he still need more room.

Re: Did any mommies change the car seat yet?
Kevin hit 26 inches at his 3 month checkup and that was the height limit for my Grace Snug ride. I didn't move him right away since his legs/head weren't hanging over or anything. We were a little attached to the infant car seat (esp since he couldn't really sit up too good. We felt he was too small for big boy car seat the stroller alone and to put him in a shopping cart to go shopping).
We moved him over about the end of his 4th month/beginning of his 5th month or so when it appeared a little squishy. He was so tiny at first in the big boy car seat (and he isn't a little baby either).

We switched about a month ago. Alex was 26.5 inches and too long for the infant car seat. I don't know how babies can reach the weight limit before the height.

Re: Did any mommies change the car seat yet?
Funny you should ask...just bought little Louie a car seat today b/c his infant carrier is just too snug. He can't wear a jacket in it b/c I can't get the straps to close. They are at their limit and they won't give any more slack. He would also cry b/c he was too restricted but now he loves his new seat......he's 3 months by the way but long
