did anyone get a letter from Meeanan today????????????
DId anyone get a letter from meanan
saying since oil prices are rising they have to up your balance billing???????????????
I was think to myself y the F did we lock in at an oil price?????
Anyone else? I want to see if anyone else got this too before I call them
I hope is a mistake they raise our monthly bill ALOT!

If you have a signed contract they cannot increase the price you locked in at. They can raise your balanced billing because they can estimate you would be paying more for oil. Mine went up about $60 a month.

Someone posted about this yesterday with Petro. If you have a signed contract with a locked-in price, they cannot raise the price of the oil just because they misjudged the market. Meenan tried this many years ago when they used to advertise their 99 cents a gallon locked in price and no matter what, the price would not go up. Well, they misjudged the market then and tried raising the price of their customers' oil. They got into alot of trouble for doing it. I would fight this every step of the way. Unless they have a clause in the contract that gives them a way to raise the price, they must abide by the terms of the contract. If they refuse, I would contact the State Attorney General's Office and let them know that I am doing just that. This is why I do C.O.D. No surprises.

Well we are still locked in to our price they just raised our balanced billing but they raised it ALOT It doesnt make any sense....
Can I change to just paying when they deliver? does anyone know i we can do that?

You should try calling them to see if you can switch to paying every time they fill your tank. That's what we do with Slomin's. They leave a bill in the mailbox after they fill us.

Balanced billing is used to spread out the payments over 12 months. It is based on the estimated gallons of oil you would use in any given year. If you go over your usage, you are billed accordingly at the end of the year. If they raised your balanced billing based on the price of oil, they changed your contract and raised your "locked-in" rate. Is is an end-run around the contract. If it was me, I would call them, tell them that I expect them to honor the contract at the agreed upon rate and agreed upon balanced billing and, if they do not do so, I would be contact the appropriate agencies and have them investigated.

I Called and they said there were alot of errors with the letters! THere was supposed to be a confimation letter I sign but I NEVER GOT ONE. THey authorized the change without my signature! The representative was nice......I took us off balanced billling they kept messing it up!

I just got one from Petro and I was so upset. We looked in around April and last week I got a call saying with the price of oil would you like to make your monthly budget payments higher?? Oh noooo thats why I locked in, then I get a letter saying the same thing and that our payment is going from $200 to $539. Are they crazy?? So I called and the women said that all the customers got that letter. What doesnt make sense is that it said starting in Jan it was going up. It better not. I ripped apart the house to find the contract. I think they are trying to scam.

This happened to my mom last year
The co. she locked in with tried to raise price stating the war was upping oil costs
She called and raised heLL with the owner sating "*** did I lock in the price then" and all that until the guy gave in
Dont let them do this to you- you have a CONTRACT!

I just went off balanced billing. I will monitor my oil and when I get to 1/2 I will call a fill up from half way is a little over 200 which is def less from what they wanted to bill me! I am better off! We are still locked into our price.
