Did anyone get their tubes tied after delivery?
Curious as to why if anyone did....... was it due to any reason other than just not wanting anymore?
et: if you have had your tubes tied - how long was the procedure?

i had it done during my second c-section. physcally, i should not be pregnant anymore. i had so many issues and complications through both pregnancies, 8.5 months of disability the 1st time, and not much better the second. i couldn't lose another 9 months out of my life and out of my kids lives... so it wasn't really a question, and the tubal guaranteed i didn't have to worry about anything. plus since i was already have the c-section, it was easy to do. 2 extra minutes before they were done.

I had mine tied after my 3rd c-section. Honestly, there are times when I regret it, but physically, my body CANNOT go through another pregnancy or c-section.

Yes, side effects that I have dealt with are:
1. LONG AFs (7-10 days) and HEAVY
2. Painful ovulation
3. Diminished sex-drive
4. PMDD
Before you decide to have a Tubal Ligation, research "Post Tubal Ligation Syndrome"

I had my tubes tied 2 years ago after my 1st child (planned c-section). I knew I wasn't going to have any more - I was 40 (no fertility problems, just weren't going to have any). The procedure was done just after taking the baby out but I was knocked out right after seeing her, so I don't know how long it took. I have not had any side effects at all. My period actually is lighter than it had been most my life.

Wow, this just scared me into NOT doing it. DH and I both have infertility issues so having my tubes tied was never a thought for me. But my OB's office keeps suggesting it because of my age.
Thank you very much for the honesty - I don't think I'm going to give this consideration

You should not let one or for that matter, anyone's experience influence your decision. Talk to your doctor, do your own research, etc. Just as the pp had problems afterward, I did not, nor did the many other people I know who had it done.

i haven't had any problems realted to getting my tubes tied. my cycles are a little off becuase of thyroid problems right now, so i can't say if they are better or worse. but honesly, just not having to deal with birh control or hormones is a big plus.

I did not however, if I had to have a C-section I would have. It was my third and final baby and my DH refuses to get snipped. Apparently you can't decide the day you are about to deliver that you want your tubes tied. It had to be documented in my file prior to delivery that those were my intentions. Needless to say, I did not have a C-section so my tubes remain intact.

I have done research and have let my doctor know I was not interested at all in having them tied. That just made me happy with my decision!
