Did anyone go to NYC instruction today?
I need to know if I should bother going tomorrow?

went today. It was ok. you are not missing anything if you don't go. It was mostly helpful to get advice from the veteran teachers and to realize that all the new teachers are as nervous and clueless as I am!

Thanks for the info.. I think that sealed the deal.. I don't feel like shlepping into the the city for no reason.

I went, in Queens. I thought it was ok too. I only really enjoyed 1 hour with this veteran teacher who gave tons of classroom ideas, discount info and website recommendations. I do like the free book we got called Conscious Classroom Management. We also got a picture book called Through the Cracks and a NY Metro Class Trip Directory. I found out that they just pay you a stipend of $35 a day, I guess to cover travel and meal expenses. I also found out that we get a $20 Staples gift card tomorrow. All in all it is not worth it if you have to go really out of your way or cancel plans or something. Otherwise it wasn't as bad as I feared!
