Did anyone have a midwife?
Just curious for the future.
Did anyone use a midwife to deliver their baby? IF so, where did you actually HAVE the baby? (home or hospital) Did you have a DR, too for the delivery?

Re: Did anyone have a midwife?
I used midwifes and my daughter was delivered in a hospital by a midwife. They work under a doctor so if there is need the doctor can be called. There are some issues here in CO with restrictions being put on midwives delivering in hospitals so I am considering a homebirth for my next baby if I would be forced to use an OB and not a midwife in a hospital.

Re: Did anyone have a midwife?
I had only midwives and did not once see a doctor during my whole 42 week pregnancy, it was a fantastic service and I got to buld really nice relationships throughout my pregnancy.

Re: Did anyone have a midwife?
I didn't, but my twin did. She delivered both at Winthrop & Stony Brook. Doctors would pop their heads in & ask if everything was ok or she needed anything.

Re: Did anyone have a midwife?
I haven't actually had my baby yet, but I'm very happy with my midwife experience so far. I will be having my baby at Stony Brook hospital and no doctors will be involved unless there are complications.

Re: Did anyone have a midwife?
We had a midwife from beginning to the end... DD was delivered in the hospital all natural - drug free like we wanted.

Re: Did anyone have a midwife?
I had a midwife, who's at a practice with OBs. I only saw her throughout my pregnancy and delivery (at Winthrop)

Re: Did anyone have a midwife?
My ob practice had both midwives and doctors. I saw both throughout my pg, but I chose to have an MD deliver my baby. They both deliver at hospitals and there was always a doctor there just in case they were needed. Next time I might choose to go with the midwives instead. I really liked my appointments with them.

I used the same group of midwives last year and they were great.

Re: Did anyone have a midwife?
I used the Midwives at StonyBrook for both of my deliveries and they were GREAT!!! My mother is also a midwife. She use to have her practice at Winthrop with the doctorsand was the Head of Midwifery there years ago. Now she teaches at Downstate in the Midwifery program. Having a midwife with you from the beginning to the end of your labor is so nice. They truly care how you feel through the whole thing not just pop a head in here and there.
I recently had a miscarriage and all 6 of them from the practice have called me over the past month and a half to check on me to see how I am feeling. they are amazing.
