Doula or midwife??
I was wondering how many of you ladies are having either a doula or midwife. Which do you prefer and why?
I am considering going back to school for midwifery but I am about to graduate with my masters in social work in May. I really am interested in assisting women in delivery. So I am curious as to what most women pick, if any of the two.

Re: Doula or midwife??
My SIL is a doula and she will be our doula. However, I am having the baby in a hospital with an OB and I am getting a epidural. I was thankful that SIL was not the same page with us. I told her that her main job is to get me to 4cm so I can get my epi.
ETA: A doula is a advocate for the woman and uses massage and other techinques to get her client through the labor process. I felt more at ease with a doula & OB as opposed to a midwife, but that is JMO.
