OMG are you kidding? I couldn't sleep for months. We were also trying to sell at the time so we had that stress on top of it.
But it all worked out. And it will for you too

Re: did anyone have anxiety attacks while buying your house?
yes! I had to get a prescription for xanax! We closed on our house 5 weeks before our wedding. Planning a wedding was a cake walk compared to buying a house.
We were pre-approved, both had credit scores over 750, no debt, etc., and I thought I was going to have a nervous breakdown after we submitted our mortgage application.

this is us..we have my car and his student loans, but the day we close we're actually going to pay off my car..and he doesn't have a ton in loans..and no cc debt, etc. we even got the mortgage just with his salary, so mine wasn't even figured in (although i really don't make a ton)
i already have an rX because i do get attacks sometimes
but i couldn't sleep last night, and i've been having a horrible attack..it's starting to abate now, but i was ready to cry (which is VERY unlike me)

Re: did anyone have anxiety attacks while buying your house?
omg yes..esp since i stay at home and dont work...my dh is an electrician so depending he can be working or not..i stressed out beyond belief and then as soon as we bought the house he was sitting out of work for 8 mths! so once we made it through that without too much of a problem i realized we were ok, and stopped stressing so much..but it is very nervewracking..goodluck!

Re: did anyone have anxiety attacks while buying your house?
I seriously almost passed out at closing. It was super hot and I started thinking what am I doing, why am I doing this?
I think it's normal and obviously it all worked out!

Yes and Yes. It was very nerve wracking. I was sick with bronchial pneumonia at closing.

Re: did anyone have anxiety attacks while buying your house?
I did the first time, but realized it was because it really wasn't really the right move for us at the time. We just felt we "should" buy a house. Luckily some MAJOR issues came out during inspection and we were able to walk away.
The second time, I didn't even bat an eye. We were totally ready emotionally and financially.

Re: did anyone have anxiety attacks while buying your house?
The night before our closing, my DH almost brought me to the emergency room, I had such a BAD panic attack.
I'm generally an anxious person and we bought our house as we were planning our wedding (while the Allegria was stringing us along). 3 weeks after we closed, I got to shop for RHs again!

I remember when that happened! I felt so bad for you Your wedding turned out beautifully though!
I don't know how you did all of this at the same time..I'm pretty anxious as well (although that may be understating it, but I have been a mess since the engineer came in and said everything was ok
My bf has a way of making me feel better, but we don't live together yet-so I just could not fall asleep last night, and that made it worse for today because I'm used to getting a certain amount of sleep.
I have xanax for my anxiety, but I hate taking it. I think I'm going to need to soon though, because I can't imagine this getting any better before we close.

Re: did anyone have anxiety attacks while buying your house?
I'm having an anxiety attack because I can't figure out how everyone pays all that money each month. Dh and I both have stable decent incomes but I just can't figure it out. The only debt we have are my school loans..that's it. On paper we have the $.. but when I think about it I just can't wrap my mind around the idea! lol
Did you and your bf find a house yet or are you still looking?

Thanks! I honestly don't know how I did it. I also had to sell my co-op at the same time. Looking back it makes me want to DIE. LOL
Seriously though, to talk you off the ledge, know this is a stress that everyone goes through and it will ALL WORK OUT. If the numbers work, they work and STOP WORRYING!!!!! If you need to, take the xanax to get you over the hump.
(says the girl who signed her last wedding payment check with $12 left in savings, HA!)

I always have more anxiety attacks selling as when you are selling, you usually put the fate of your transaction with the other party.

Re: did anyone have anxiety attacks while buying your house?
To put it in perspective for you, you are coming from not having a housing expense and going into having every expense.
This is one reason why you are so nervous. On paper can be intimidating.
You will be fine. Good luck.

yes, and now I am in major freak out mode. We got a call today that everything is in line on our end to close - we have to wait for the sellers and we may close before the 1st of the year

Re: did anyone have anxiety attacks while buying your house?
Totally! I was terrified. TERRIFIED! And, like you, we crunched the numbers a million times, we knew we were buying well below our budget and that we would be fine. But even though the numbers worked on paper, I still couldn't shake the feeling that we were somehow going to be in over our head.
Well, we've been here two years now and we're fine. Try to relax.
Best of luck.
