did anyone have low beta and a successful pregnancy? Crappy update
I got a positive pregnancy test yesterday, my period was due Saturday. I had a blood test this morning and my beta was in the 20's but my progesterone was really good, I think she said 13.5. Is there any hope? I'm not optimistic.
Update:I got a call yesterday that my hcg only went up to 36 and my progesterone dropped to 5 so this is not a viable pregnancy
I don't know what to do now. It's my 3rd early miscarriage. They all have the same pattern but all the testing my re did came back with nothing but a MTHFR gene mutation that everyone keeps telling me has nothing to do with my miscarriages. There has to be something wrong.

Re: did anyone have low beta and a successful pregnancy?
I had a 20 beta last month that was not successful. There are definitely people who have gone on to deliver after a low beta.

I've seen it go both ways. How many days past ovulation are you?

Re: did anyone have low beta and a successful pregnancy?
right now i am experiencing something similiar. RE office was not very optimistic. My first beta was a 12.5, then 10,22,77,240,930 and last week was 1520 so it started low then went down. I went last week for a sono and there was a sac going back thursday to see if it grew..dr said it could go both ways at this point.

My first beta was 27... She's now a healthy 10 month old! I had that blood test exactly 14dpo.

A beta always starts at 0 and goes up. The first number is not important, but the second number is. It should it double in about 48 hours.

Re: did anyone have low beta and a successful pregnancy?
I'm not sure how many dpo I am. My first pregnancy I was going nuts with testing and tracking ovulation so this time around I decided to be more lax about it. It's been hard for me to track my period because I spot for 5-7 before I get it so I'm not sure when it actually starts. I think AF was due Saturday so I think I'm quite a few days past ovulation. I think too many to have such a low beta. I started folic acid and baby aspirin so hopefully that helps.

My beta in the 20s didn't end well. But.... My beta of 70 on 16 DPO ended with DS my beta very well could have been in the 20s on 13/14 DPO. It really depends on how early you are. Good luck!

regarding MTHFR - if u do a research online u will see that are a lot of miscarriages in the 5-6 week mark in women who have this mutation. are u on baby aspirin? on extra folic acid? if not, get into the office with ur Dr and start hammering him regarding this. if he is not on the MTHFR bandwagon yet, u might be better off getting a 2nd opinion with someone who is.

Go see Dr. Braverman. I have 2 copies of MTHFR(and it certainly can cause early miscarriage due to clotting of the placenta) I had 5 early miscarriages, MTHFR and a couple of other thrombophilias. I was treated with immune meds and did IVF and have healthy almost 5 year old twins

I had an early MC that was because of MTHFR.

Re: did anyone have low beta and a successful pregnancy? Crappy update
what's metnax?
I really want to see dr. braverman but I don't think I have OON coverage and I don't think I can afford him.
I think I found I was pregnant too late. I didn't think I was pregnant since we really weren't trying this month. I tested the day after AF was due and I guess it was too late. Lesson learned. After I miscarry or have a D&C I'll take the folic acid and baby aspirin throughout the month.
