Did anyone put they're DC into a pre nursery program
No, not daycare, I'm a SAHM and a lot of SAHM in my town put their DC's into a pre nursery program that our JCC has it's for children ages 2+ before nursery. DD will be 21 months next september and am thinking of doing it for the social aspect for DD, but part of me feels like its a waste of $ since I'm home...Hopefully I'll be PG by then,so it would help out in that aspect, but don't really need to spend $ on that, I just want to make sure it'll be beneficial for DD..Anyone have any experience of have done this?

Re: Did anyone put they're DC into a pre nursery program
I have DD in a program. She started at a camp this summer (3 days a week 9-12:30) and now she goes to school 3 days a week 9-12. She is 28 months. I felt she was getting really bored at home with me and she has always been fascinated with other kids...she has done so well in school. She LOVES it and loves the socialization of it. I have noticed she has learned so much in a short amount of time. I am a SAHM, but I don't feel it is a waste of money AT ALL....it helps both of us!

thanks, thats exactly what this would be, its a 3 day a week a few hours a day program!!! See DD is like that too, I take her to Gymboree and she ADORES the interaction with other kids, and I do think it would help her out before nursery considering she is ULTRA attached to me already at 10 months!!! Thanks so much!!!

Re: Did anyone put they're DC into a pre nursery program
I'm thinking of putting DD in a 2yo separation class starting in Feb. She's not in daycare so I figure it's good for the social aspect and will also give my ILs a little break. It's once a week for almost 2 hours.

Re: Did anyone put they're DC into a pre nursery program
I plan to enroll DS in a toddler program at a montessori school next fall. DS will be 18 months old. It's on the expensive side but I thought it would be good for his social development.

Yes! DS goes to our local JCC (has gone since he was in the 2's) and DS2 will be going next year. It is great for socialization

Re: Did anyone put they're DC into a pre nursery program
DD is in a 2 day a week (2 hours each class) 2 year old preschool class. I'm a SAHM - I did it b.c I wanted DD to have some more social interaction. Also she has trouble sitting and listening so I thought it would be a good opportunity for her to have some fun and work on sitting and listening and being comfortable in a classroom. She loves it so far.

Re: Did anyone put they're DC into a pre nursery program
I sent my son to a pre-school readiness class at the YMCA. It was once a week for 2 hours. I think it was beneficial socially. This year he is in preschool full -time.

Re: Did anyone put they're DC into a pre nursery program
The temple by me has a program like that and I plan to enroll DS. I was a teacher at the JCC for children that age and it was amazing to see how well they learned to interact with other children and get into a routine.

hbugal here...
My DS goes to the 2 year old program at our local JCC. We are members so it's $180 per month....
Im a SAHM in the sense that I didnt put DS into the program for "daycare" but rather for socialization.
We have had a relationship with the JCC for over 5 years and when it came time to put DS into a program I could think of no other place I would rather put him.
If you would like more specific information please feel free to FM me...

Re: Did anyone put they're DC into a pre nursery program
my DS goes to school 3x a week 2.5 hours a day... its a little different for us since its a school for special needs, but if he was a typical boy we would have sent him regardless to a preschool 2-3x a week.
BTW he turned 2 in Aug.

Re: Did anyone put they're DC into a pre nursery program
I am also a SAHM. DD turned 2 in August. Since she was 7 months we've done music, swim, gymnastics, a Mom and Tot class through the town and lots at the library. She started in a 2yo program at the beginning of October. It is 1.5 hours a day twice a week (no mommies). So far she loves it.
I wanted her to get the social experience too. I started looking last January thinking she'd start at 3yo in 2010 and I'd have my research done early. I found that lists were starting (but not yet full) at a few of the places I like for the 2010-2011 year for 3 yo's. When I found the place she is now (it's in Amityville, if any is interested FM me) I really liked their 2 yo program and how it helps them transition into the 3yo and then 4 yo program. I was very impressed with the school.
