Did anyone's DC give up napping before 2 yo?

Ava hasn't napped in weeks. Maybe once in three weeks. She's fine by bedtime, maybe a little cranky, but I'm not sure if it's a phase or if she really doesn't need the nap anymore. I know my husband is going nuts during the day and I feel so bad for him because he would use her nap time to shower and clean up around the house. The only reason I think she still needs that nap and we need to let her just cry if need be is that if you put her in the car, she's out like a light. Ugh, I don't know what to do.

my nephew will be 2 in may, and my sister said he has given up napping.

Rach..I am going through the same thing with Megan.

I am not sure if she doesnt "need" the nap or its just the sleeping issues overall. She wont nap at home..I leave her in the crib for an hour and she just talks and talks until I get her. But when we go out, she will fall asleep in the car, so I am thinking she does need it.

I admit though, I havent been too concerned with trying to get her down since now when she goes to bed shes EXHAUSTED and goes to sleep easier. Maybe its just a phase and she will go back to napping again?

Kerri was having this issue too...for about a month she wouldn't nap...but we were persistent in not having her give it up and for the last two weeks with us has napped...she is right now. She is inconsitent with my dad though, but he won't ever let her cry so that may be it.

Does she cry when you put her down?

yup Aidan did, fought and fought and finally stopped at around 20 months, before we even switched to a bed. I tried just leaving him, he would climb out and play.

of course once in a blue moon (seriously like once every two months) he would crash somewhere or late afternoon if we were in the car but thats it.

I give you moms tons of credit! I'd go nuts if they didn't nap. Mine are almost 2 and 4 years old, and they BOTH nap every day, for at least 2 hours.

DD is 2 years old and there was a period of a couple weeks after the baby was born that she didn't nap (maybe the excitment, adjustment of the new baby) and was so cranky - when i started to get into a routine - i made sure she went down for a nap again - and now she is napping about 2 hours a day (1 nap).

Maybe try and wide her down - an hour before she naps - feed her lunch, play some quiet activities (nothing loud), read a book, give her a bath and repeatedly tell her its naptime and do the same routine you do to put her to bed.

Ry just turned 2 and rarely takes naps anymore. He sleeps 12 hours at night and just started to stop taking them this past fall.

Logan stopped the week before his second birthday And he's a kid that NEEDS a nap. Don't get me wrong he will fall asleep in the car, but he actually yells from his room/ crib at daycare "Hey (mommy/Debbie-babysitter) Logan's awake!"
