Did Anyones Nuchal Fold test show a thick fold?
I cant stop thinking about yesterdays test. The Dr. said our neck fold measurement was 2.4 and anything over 2.5 is considered high and indicative of a amnio needed.
He said based on our blood work they will suggest that or not..
He did say he believes that the reuslts dont indicate a problem .
Does anyone know what their measurement was or have a "thick" nuchal fold measurement?
TIA!

I read this and feel better
"Though the risk will be higher than the baby's in the first image, nine out of 10 babies with a measurement between 2.5mm and 3.5mm will be completely normal. " ( and thats at 11-13 weeks gestation)

Re: Did Anyones Nuchal Fold test show a thick fold?
My friend's baby showed a thick neck nuchal measurement. They sent her for an amnio -- everything was normal. Then they told her, "Well, it was still thick, so we want you to go for a fetal echocardiogram". She did that too. It was normal.
Bottom line, her baby was fine and is absolutely beautiful. (P.S., this was her first child at age 42!)

Re: Did Anyones Nuchal Fold test show a thick fold?
When I had this test, the blood work came back normal but Baby A's neck thickness was borderline. I did not need an amnio but they made sure at the 20 week appt to thouroughly chekc the heart. They were not able to get the best pics and I was sent to a pediatric cardiologist and had a fetal echo cardiogram done.
They noticed that Baby A had a pulmonary stenosis and that it feel in the mild to moderate range. They watched it thru my pregnancy and then decided it was a moderate stenosis.
At this point I was 30 weeks and they wanted me to deliver at a hospital where there was a cardiologist on staff at all times so he could be seen immediatly and if anything needed to be done we would not have to trasfer him to another hospital. I had to switch Dr's and deliverd my son at LIJ. He was put in the NICU and had a procedure done 6 days after birth to fix the stenosis. He still has the stenosis, but it was better and he has to be watched every year, but they say he will need a normal life and can play sports etc. He will ened to take meds before going to the dentist and has to be monitored yearly.
I am not posting this to scare you, but to just make you realize that this things are not all horrible, and that knowing what is going on before delivering your baby is the best thing. I would have been seperated from my son if I delivered in my local hospital.
If you are uncomfy with the broderline thickness, ask the dr about a fetal echo cardiogram and possibly seeing a pediatric cardiologist, maybe it can put your mind at ease.
Good Luck!
