Did I just get hosed? Gold selling related.
So here's the deal.
All I really want is a diamond white gold cross. I don't want a big one. I wanted a thin line of small diamonds down and across. Something really delicate looking.
So I stopped at a jewler and brought this in.
1 wg earring with 6-7 small diamonds and really tiny saphirre.
1 wg neclace with 7 small diamonds(this was beautiful but, it was from an ex and I didn't feel right wearing it anymore)
1 baby ring with only 2 small saphirres left in it.
1 gold bracelet
1 gold cross with about 10 really tiny diamonds in it.
1 gold cross
1 gold charm
4 gold earrings.
All together it weighed about 10 grams, stones included. Most of the gold was about 14K and maybe one thing was 18k.
In the end he is making me an 18K WGcross with my small diamonds and one of the saphirres from my baby ring in the center. He is giving me a thin 14k wg chain...
I am giving him everything else. We are calling it even.
Did I just get totally taken advantage of? Or should I say, "I wanted the necklace and that is what I got", so that's a good thing?

gold is about 1,000 an ounce sooo about $35 a g.
your jewelry scrap should be worth about $350.
im thinking this is a pretty good deal.

im thinking this is a pretty good deal.
So do you think making a necklace with my stones and the thin chain would have cost me about 350$ ?
He was kind of telling me that if he just paid me for the gold, the small stones had very little impact on the price he would pay me.  I know they were small but there was like 25 small diamonds and 3 small saphirres.
Oh well, I guess, done deal. I hope the necklace is pretty. It will be done in 10 days.

to be honest, if you had to pay anything i would say it was a rip off, but your getting something you wanted and you dont have to pay a dime, and now its going to be something a little senimental b/c of the stone in the center, to me thats priceless, completly worth it

LOL- we just talked about going! I am going through my stuff now. Did he give you a price? I would have probably just asked, how much for cash right now and then figured it out from there. I'm sure you did well though!
And, you know I would have taken any beautiful "italian" jewlery off your hands! LOL.

LOL.. even if it was from an italian jerk who only gave it to me because he felt sorry for cheating on me in Italy.. LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

the stones mean nothing in the price. I had a ton of diamons in gold and the People basically told me they wanted the gold, not the diamonds, they were getting nothing for the diamonds.
ETA- With the jewelry I had, I had over 40-50 small diamonds..a few diamond earrings ( small stones in gold) , tennis bracelts, a diamond cross..., they didnt want any of the diamonds)

Really! That makes me feel so much better!!!
I guess in the end. I got what I wanted. I wanted to get enough $ to get a diamond cross and I got a diamond cross with my baby ring saph in the middle.

When I saw that the price was $350, I thought "Wow, all of that for $350". So it sounds like a good deal to me". hth!
