Did one of my favorite things today...

Went to a MAC counter at The Short Hills Mall (near where I live) and had this flaming gay guy (I love gay guys) do my makeup. I used to work for Bobbi Brown so we had the best time making fun of her and talking about what a crazy b*tch she is.

Anyway, I bought some new makeup and a new makeup bag to put it all in. I'm such a girly girl, but it was so much fun Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

Re: Did one of my favorite things today...

I tried to stay away but Jen is not on so I shall carry her message on.

Please change the bad term of flaming to flamboyant. She taught me that flaming is a very bad word to use in regards to homosexuality.

well, this could very much turn our calm Wednesday night into drama LOL

I'm not going to change it b/c I don't think it's wrong and all of my gay friends don't mind when I use it.

It's not my pet peeve so you won't get drama from me. I simply wanted to state it.
Do you know how the term originated or are you just using it as current socially acceptable slang?

I have absolutely no idea where it originated from, just as I don't have a clue as to the origin of the most of the words I use to converse with.

No problem - you're allowed to state it. It's actually news to me as I've NEVER heard that it is considered derogatory.

Re: Did one of my favorite things today...

From what Jennifer has taught me it's in regards to how gay people used to go up in flames as the were burned at the stake.
I never knew this until this site either.

that is in reference to the F A G word but the whole word...that is what a bundle of sticks was called and they used them to burn people at the stake.

Re: Did one of my favorite things today...

OMG...so many people where burned at the stake....

this shouldn't turn into a gay debate...

anyway Alicia, you are just exercising your first amendment right, no?

and I hope you had fun.

ets: I am not trying to be a huge b1tch, but I just think it's not a terrible thing to use the term flaming...

also, I guess that is why the brits calls cigs fag$

No probs...I only know that b/c my brother used to say that word all the time and he said it in front of my gay uncle and my uncle (rightfully so) flipped and we had an education session on the origin of that word

Re: Did one of my favorite things today...

oooh I did the same thing yesterday-

updated all my makeup and bought a new bag & new brushes from Mac...as soon as I got in my car I took everything out and tried it on in my rear view mirror! lol.
My DH laughs-
he cant understand that a little thing like buying some makeup can make me so happy! (he will realize when he gets the cc bill that it wasnt "so little!")
