Did/will your 2 year old choose their halloween costume or are you picking for them?

DD turned 2 in August and not sure if I should take her to look at costumes or just pick for her.

I'm thinking it may be a disaster and she'll want like 7 of them! We went to build a bear last weekend while at the mall and all she wanted to do was take out each un-stuffed animal, talk about it to us for a while and throw it back in the bin... we didn't even "build" a bear, she wanted no part of that. I picked it out for her. The way I see it, this might be the last year I actually have a say in it Chat Icon.

Landon picked last year (2.5). We looked through a catalogue we got in the mail and he choose a bumblebee.
This year we looked online on buycostumes.com and he picked Frankenstein.
If we went to an actual store he would want everything!

As we went from the $10 bins over to the $25+ bins I was secretly hoping we'd get out of buying one and we did!

I'm thinking the same thing will happen with the costumes... she'll see buzz, nemo, woody, etc and either want them all or just want to talk about them all and not want to pick ONE.

My DD was 2 1/2 last year and wanted to be Abby cadabby....then when she heard her little sister was going to be a butterfly she wanted to be one too. So luckily I just used the tulle to make her into a buttefly too.

Dh asked Travis last night and I asked him this morning and we both got the same answer. He says he wants to be a turtle.

But I cannot find any cute turtle costume anywhere, so dh and I are tossing around a few other ideas, in case we can’t find a cute turtle.

That's funny b/c DD loves turtles lately too, but I didn't see any cute turtle costumes either. This one is adorable for a boy though, it's leonardo from teenage mutant ninja turtles: LINK

Since my son was 2 I always asked him what he wanted to be and he always chose just one costume so it worked out well.

We had the same build a bear experience a few months ago.

I picked her costume.

DS isn't quite two yet but, I picked his costume.

I picked something that I knew he'd immediately recognize so he's going to be a monkey.

We took her to party city and to be honest there was nothing really cute imo for toddler girls. I just picked one..she wasn't really that interested. Maybe next year..

I would let her pick from a choice of 2 costumes that you know she'd like. Use pics from a catalog. I think that is a much less overwhelming way to have her make the decision.

I picked it out for her, though I almost kinda regret it. She's gonna be Tinkerbell, which she could certainly be for years to come. But this might be the last year she could be Foofa. Chat Icon Once she saw those costumes, she was totally enthralled. I feel kinda bad I didn't give her a say.Chat Icon

I chose for my DD when she was 2 and when I took her to see the costume and buy it and she LOOOOVED it! She was so excited. I did choose something for her that I knew she would love based on her interests at the time which last year happened to be Minnie Mouse. Chat Icon

I let them pick. They are closer to 3 though.
I let them pick last year too. I just showed them a few and they said which one they wanted. This year they were more adamant about it!
