Did you buy a bedroom set or separate pieces?

DH and I loved a bed at Thomasville. Between the bed, tempurpedic mattress that DH wants and the dresser and nightstands that are part of the Thomasville collection, we'd be spending a lot of money.

I'm torn about what to do. We can either get all of those pieces that are part of the collection, just get the bed, or get the bed and dresser. I kind of think it's ridiculous to spend so much on the nightstands, but I don't know if it will look strange if we get nightstands from somewhere else. Did you buy a bedroom set or separate pieces? If you bought separate pieces, please post pictures. TIA.

Our nightstands are a different color and style than our dresser set and we love them.

We didn't want it so matchy but both ways look good. Its just a personal preference I think. If you're looking to save $ and want to sub for other nightstands, I say go for it.

I can also FM you a picture of our non-matching set if that helps you decide.

We bought a set, but I've seen plenty of beautiful bedrooms that aren't sets. It all depends on how you match the furniture styles and colors.

We got out nightstands at Homegoods and had 2 pieces made for us custom.  I'm not into matchy matchy and it worked for us.

we bought a set but it seems so in style not to have a set right now. a lot of pics i see have nightstands that are different from each other even.

the only thing i was afraid of was that if i didn't get all the pieces i wanted and i regretted it late that the pieces may no longer be available (since stores often discontinue lines)

I've thought about that too although I think the set we're looking at is pretty popular and should be around for a while.

I don't like things to match perfectly - so I would not buy a set.

I drove the woman in Ethan Allen crazy b/c I mixed and matched from 3 different collections -

We got a Thomasville set, but an iron bed from Bombay Company.

We're buying all separate pieces. We bought our nightstands - but are still looking for a bed and dressers. I know what I want but havent found it yet - I just prefer a more eclectic look.

I really wanted separate pieces, but wound up getting a set bc it was a good deal. I did get 2 different nightstands to break it up though.

I like everything to match, so I got a dresser for me with a mirror, a tall dresser for DH, 2 nightstands, and the bed with headboard.

We bought a full BR set - bed frame, headboard, dresser (male & female), & 2 night stands.

Re: Did you buy a bedroom set or separate pieces?

We still have our icky Ikea dressers that are getting ready to fall apart. Chat Icon But our plan is to get a matching set. We've found a bed we both love (that's rare -- we seem to disagree on everything else) but we're not crazy about the dressers/nightstands that come with it so we may need to get pieces from a different set or something that has similar wood.

Everything is separate. We didn't intend for it that way, but I love that every piece has a cute story behind it and they all go.
