Did you buy a changing table or just use the top of a dresser to change the baby?
I am debating whether we should purchase a standard changing table like the one below or if we should just put a changing pad on another piece of furniture.

Opinions please...

Last pregnancy we had a changing table, but really only used for like a month. then started changing dd on bed. We had to get ride of changing table b/c of a recall on crib, so dont have one for this baby.. going to just change on bed.

Honestly..... I change Kristina on whatever flat surface I can find! The changing table, the bed, the floor, a dresser would be fine too if I had one w/o things on it!

We use the top of a dresser. We felt that for the space in her room, a changing table would have been a waste when we could have furniture with a lot more drawers.

We have a changing table that is a dresser as well. And to be honest, he is almost 21 months old and I always use it still.

I have a dresser with changing table top, I used the changing table up until about 18 months. Now she has stuff on top of it. Something like this:

I have an actual changing table and love it. I always change her on it. It has high sides so I don't worry about her rolling off, and there are shelves and baskets to store necessities in and I hang the diaper stacker from it.

Re: Did you buy a changing table or just use the top of a dresser to change the baby?
We were going to use the top of the dresser that we had in the room that's going to be the nursery. However, the top is too narrow to safely hold a changing pad. So I'm going to end up getting a changing table. Nothing fancy, I found one that I liked at Target and will not clash too badly with the rest of the furniture in the room.

In his room we just have the dresser/hutch which has a changing pad on it. Sine we spend most of the time downstaris I wanted something down here too. We had been using the pack n'play but it was SO big and there really wasn't much storage on it so I ended up buying an actaul changing table for the first floor and I LOVE it!! In the future I will just use it as toy storage. And it's actually in our dining room right now since we had nowhere else to put it and it looks fine Here's a pic of it:

We did the exact same... changing table in the dining room for the exact same reason. It's still there and I use it.
ETA: If I lived in a ranch, I wouldn't have bothered with the changing table.

I only used the changing table for a few mths and then started changing her on the bed or the floor (carpet). I think it was a waste and just took up space personally.

Bought the mat that goes on top of an existing dresser that was just taking up space in the garage. My Dad refinished it for us and for $30 we have a changing table!
Still use it and DD is over 2 now.

Re: Did you buy a changing table or just use the top of a dresser to change the baby?
I didn't want a dresser with a changing table b.c I thought it would be less helpful down the road and I didn't like that they don't have 4 sides to help keep the baby/toddler on them. So we got one cheaply at target. It is sturdy and have 4 sides to it so even with the changing pad on it DD can't just roll off of it which is helpful when they get really active.
Etd to add a picture we have this one but in another color:

same here for the downstairs. Up in her room, we have a dresser with a changing table on it, but we don't ever use it as a changing table.

Re: Did you buy a changing table or just use the top of a dresser to change the baby?
we just used the couch w/ a changing pad underneath the baby. didn't want to waste $ on a changing table, and I didn't like changing him on the PNP table. best place is the couch for us!

Re: Did you buy a changing table or just use the top of a dresser to change the baby?
i had a changing pad.. but honestly.. i NEVER used it.... ever.
Biggest waste of money (thankfully cheap) and it took up space. I couldnt fit a change table in her room anyway and this just took up surface space.
I change her in her crib, on the couch.. heck even in the back end of our SUV
We have change pads and she's happy with that.
I am giving my change pad away to a preggo who said she's going to use it.
If i ever have a second, I wont be buying another one.
JMO
ETA: when we had it, it was on top of her dresser.
