Did you buy your DC classic white walking shoes?

I just bought Thomas the classic white "cruising" shoe from Stride Rite. I went in planning to buy a sneaker type, but he's only a size 3 1/2 W, and most of the sneaker syles start at size 4.

DH thought they were old-fashioned. I liked the idea of having a classic first walking shoe.

What do you think?

No. He has brown shoes. THey aren't a sneaker though.

I kinda agree with your DH, if they are the shoes I am thinking of, that they won't be very versitile in the long run.

ETA: I had DS fitted for these shoes and they are walking shoes

Yes, I did for my first and will for my second. Then I am really careful about the shoes I buy my kids.

I bought those shoes from Stride Rite, although I got the girl version with pink laces. They are horrible though. The toes are all scuffed from crawling. When I complained, the girl said any shoe would do that. Her payless ones aren't scuffed though

I got Jack sneakers - but he is always dressing in running pants and T's. I think classic white shoes with sweats would look a little funny!

awww - we went with walking sandals - I was going to get sneakers but my ped said there was no need - barefeet were best at home and only need a walking shoe that has a flexible sole - the high side sneakers weren't necessary but they do help mom keep them on. I hear you on the sneakers - DD was a size 3W when she started walking and they told me they make almost NOTHING that small - I found a few pairs of sandals though - she is 3 1/2W now. I'm waiting until she hits 4 so we can have some selection.

I got DS those shoes. At first I wasn't happy about them, but it was allt hey had in his size. But after he wore them a few times, I really like how they looked...he always looked like he was "dressed" up, even when wearing jeans. The front got all scuffed up, but all his shoes, even from others stores, have all gotten scuffed up in the front cause he drags he feet when he crawls.

I see a lot of kids in the classic white walking shoes but I skipped them and went straight for the sneakers and darker colored shoes. Personally I don't like the way they look for my son but that's not to say that I don't like them at all. I see the little munchkins walking around in them and they look cute. I just didn't want them for asthestic reasons...vain I know but it's honest.

DS is not near walking yet but I totally plan on getting the classic white walking shoes! They are too cute! and I love seeing little kids in them!

No, neither of my kids had the white traditional walking shoes.

I got Aidan the Classic White, love them!

I figured there would be MANY other shoes to buy, he outgrew them in 3 months, so I got the traditional ones first, then switched it up

Im actually on the fence..all my older girls have had them but that was years ago..

I'll figure it out when I go to get him his first pair of shoes. Which wont be until he starts walking...

Only definite is that I'll go to the Stride Right in Dix Hills b/c that's where we always go...

Thanks everyone!! I think I will keep them and enjoy watching him learn to walk in his new shoes!! There will be plenty of sneakers to buy in the years to come!!

no, i don't really like them. my DS started walking over the summer so his first shoes were sandals.

I like the vintage-y look of them. DS never wears shoes. I might get a pair!

I love them but DD learned to walk in the summer so I had to get Stride Rite sandals.
