Did anyone not buy their child stride rite walking shoes when they started to walk?
My DD has been wearing Pumas since she started walking. Well today my babysitter made a comment to my DH about how she was suprised I didn't buy her stride rite walking shoes. I figured Pumas were light weight and she seems to do ok and besides when she is inside she is barefoot anyway but of course now its got me thinking that I am a bad mommy.

M DD just started walking a few weeks ago and she doesn't have shoes that she wears on a regular basis. When we go outside, I carry her anyway and she wears socks and booties or slippers.
I thought when they start walking they are supposed to be barefoot as much as possible?

DD is not walking independently YET and I won't buy her shoes until she is doing it well.
I believe that Stride Rite shoes are fit and constructed to aid the foot in developing the arch and provide great support.
They are also of high quality and hold up well under the "tough" conditions of abuse by kids

DD is almost 11 months and has been wearing pumas also - she also has 2 other pairs of shoes that aren't stride rite - i wouldn't worry.
I will buy her a pair of stride rite shoes one day - just haven't gotten around to it.
Hey - we didn't all grow up wearing stride rite shoes - and we turned out fine - i wouldn't worry

I agree. I plan on buying DD stride rite shoes for her 1st pair of walking shows.

My sister's kids never had Stride Rite and their feet are just fine. I really don't think they are necessary. What did people do before there were Stride Rite?

You're not a bad mommy! Stride Rite does make great shoes, but like you said she's barefoot most of the time, which is better for her right now anyway.
