Did you do anything special with the umbilical cord stump?

We've been saving Ryan's in a baggie for a nice day when we could have a bury ceremony under a new tree Chat Icon Anyone do something similar?

No-we just chucked it with the diaper she was wearing when it fell off (we cleaned the stump during diaper changes). I guess we are not sentitmentalChat Icon

ETA:because DD is a "she" not a "he"!

nothing BUT (and i can not believe i'm posting this but) we are jewish and at the bris the moyel (the guy that does the circumcision) gave us the fore skin and told us to bury it under a tree. we did but thought it was soooo odd. there is a reason behind doing it but honestly i can't remember anymore.

We burried DS's too. I thought my mom was crazy- she "suggested" that we did it. I had no idea many other ppl did this!

Re: Did you do anything special with the umbilical cord stump?

I saved it in a trinket box. I am not sure if we will do anything with it. My mom was surprised I saved it. She never saved mine or my bro's

I don't understand why people keep this, it's dead skinChat Icon

DH left in on the changing table because he thought I might want to and I almost got sick when I saw it sitting there.

I don't get it eiither. I threw all 3 away!

What the point of doing this(bury it) with the stump? Is it for good luck or something?

Same reason why some women keep their positive pregnancy tests too.
My birthing class teacher suggested doing something ceremonial with it as it was DC's connection to me - his lifeline. She also suggested doing something with the placenta as well Chat Icon but that wasn't happening!

To each his own...

I wanted to do something with the preg. test, i kept it for a year and then couldnt think of anything. So i just took a picture of it and tossed it. My sister gave me a weird look for just taking a picture of it.

eta: what would you do with a placenta??? i hope not bronze it like they do with baby shoes. Chat Icon

Re: Did you do anything special with the umbilical cord stump?

We tossed it. I was kind of grossed out by it. I love DD and I'm definitely a sentimental person, but I felt no attachment to her stump.
