Did you have doubts when making an offer?

After an awful experience with our first offer, DH and I are strongly considering another apartment. However, there seems to be hesitation from both of us. The apartment is great, so why are we freaking out? I can't figure out if we are both just being more cautious after our first attempt or if there is something more Chat Icon

Did anyone else feel this way?

well i think buying a house should be like finding your wedding dress. you should get that tingly and excited feeling. i think you should LOVE the biggest investment of your life, JMO...good luck!Chat Icon

We are buying an apartment in Manhattan.

The wedding dress is a great analogy! Too bad it took me a month to decide before putting a deposit on it Chat Icon

Thanks Chat Icon

We got a little nervous putting in a offer, but we did have the tingly feeling when we did, we both knew we found our fit!

Re: Did you have doubts when making an offer?

I completely had doubts, I am so indecisive to begin with so this was a huge decision. I knew after finding the house that we bought that I wouldn't be happy in any other house.

Did anyone else feel this way?

We were in contract negotiations for weeks, and finally pulled out. The sellers were just not willing to work with us.

i saw a really nice house this weekend, and right now, I feel like I cant be bothered... Im house burned.

I've had similar feelings - we too were in contract negotiations for weeks and weeks and had the same problems.

then we made an offer on another house and had issues with that too....

so I totally know the feeling of being discouraged!

Re: Did you have doubts when making an offer?

ugh - all 3 times we have bought (and all the other bids) I have always had a pit in my stomach. All except one bid, which wasn't accepted.

I always second guess myself on big purchases. Whenour bid was accepted I sort felt like oh no this is really happening. In the end I am always happy with our decisions. I guess its just my nature.

DH and I made a few offers and only 1 of them made me freak out. I guess my gut instinct told me it wasn't the right place for us. we later withdrew our offer.

I think since you had a bad experience already you are cautious now and that's normal.
We had a similar experience and I felt the same way....but I just told myself - if it is meant to be, it will be! Chat Icon

I am exactly the same way! Even when I buy clothes, I leave the tags on and the purchase in the bag until I wear itChat Icon

Re: Did you have doubts when making an offer?

We were freaking out when we made the offer. It such a tremendous amount of money and a giant committment. It's natural to feel anxiety about it.
