Did you have to buy a whole new wardrobe when you went back to work after maternity leave? None of my work clothes fit.

Did you have to buy a whole new wardrobe when you went back to work after maternity leave? None of my work clothes fit.

NONE of my button down shirts fit. Towards the end of my pregnancy, I was wearing some of DH's button downs and sweaters but that isn't going to work now that I'm no longer pregnant. I looked so frumpy towards the end of pregnancy.

I can fit into my fat pants so I think I'm ok for bottoms but NONE of my suit jackets and button downs button anymore. I plan to continue to BF so I'm assuming my boobs will remain this D size.

Did you have to buy all new clothes when you returned back to work?

Re: Did you have to buy a whole new wardrobe when you went back to work after maternity leave? None of my work clothes fit.

I nursed for 14 months and went back to work after DS was 4 months. I bought some mix and match pieces, wore my nursing tanks under suit jackets or didn't bottom my suit jackets and just bought a few new tops.
I got a lot of work cloths postpartum from Annie Sez on the sale rack - so I didn't spend a lot of $$.

ETS: A lot of my nicer suits - my JCrew, Banana work clothes - were/are a size 0 or 2. Even when I got back to my pre-pregnancy weight - 10 months PP, I still couldn't fit into that stuff. So, for me, a few pairs of dress pants were worth the investment. Maybe I'll get into those suits after #2 - doubtful though Chat Icon

I've been holding off in hopes to lose a little more weight. I now realize that it isn't my weight but my proportions. My boobs are not shrinking anytime soon. Most of my pants are too small as well but I can uncomfortably close them.

I guess it's about that time to start realizing I went up a size. Chat Icon

I actually had to buy clothes that were about 3 to 4 sizes smaller. I lost a TON of weight right after I had her and I was p*ssed at having to buy new clothes cause Im afraid to gain some of it back and be stuck with all these clothes!

I totally hear you regarding the nice suits. It really sucks. None, zero, zilch suits fit me. This is going to cost me a lot of money if I have to buy all new suits. Argh.

I had avoided buying maternity suits and looked borderline inappropriate for work during my third trimester. I can't be looking like a hot mess when I return from maternity leave.

I haven't gone back to work yet, but I have had to buy all new clothes. Not only did I gain weight, my boobs are huge. I hate them so much!! I had a few weddings to go to and needed to buy all new dresses. My old dresses would fit, but I couldn't zipper them because of my chest.

yes and no...some things were completely hopeless. especially the button downs. i also admit that i wore spanx too which were a godsend and allowed me to wear all of my dresses and pants. they were a very worthwhile investment!

Absolutely nothing fits me either Chat Icon ! Two years before I got PG I lost 60lbs, going from a size 12/14 bottom and XL tops to a size 0/2 and SM tops. (sizes I never saw in my life) I was always a thick girl, to put it lightly Chat Icon . Finally I enjoyed shopping. Bought all new stuff and gave all my other clothes to a friend who needed it due to there being a fire in her home and losing everything. I gained 40lbs Chat Icon while PG and figured I'd lose it with no problem once I gave birth Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon . *** was I thinking. My boobs are still huge and we won't even talk about my thighs Chat Icon . I've been pretty lucky with being able to borrow some pants here and there, but I did have to buy some new shirts. Now that's its getting warmer, I'm going to have to break down and do some shopping, which I'm dreading Chat Icon !

Sorry this is so long.......

YUP! But, I was not getting paid for most of my maternity leave so we didn't have much to spend on an entire wardrobe. So, I got some staple pants (khaki, black, brown) and then a ton of tops.

Re: Did you have to buy a whole new wardrobe when you went back to work after maternity leave? None of my work clothes fit.

yes, i did. a lot of the tops i wore while PG i still wear Chat Icon they are not maternity, just looser - that is the style i prefer.

i had to buy all new pants. but i knew i would be TTC within a year or so, so i know i will be able to use them again after i have another child. it was worth the investment.

i ended up buying a lot of stuff from ny and company, they always have great sales and coupons.

Will you stop complaining about losing weight already, Jen??? Chat Icon

I didn't go back to work, but I have noticed the button down shirts don't fit me the same. I have a belly I just can't get rid of. My pants all fit just fine though. I started to be able to fit into all my clothes again around 3-4 months PP.

I had to buy a lot of new tops because of the boobs and my belly was not back to normal yet. It sucks!

Re: Did you have to buy a whole new wardrobe when you went back to work after maternity leave? None of my work clothes fit.

Yes I did, and then I had to buy another one. I was 2 sizes up when I first went back to work, now I'm 1 size up so occasionally I can get into some of my old clothes but it's been 17 months...

I'm about to start a diet and exercise program because I can't take this body anymore. I think I can finally find the time now that DD's schedule is more consistent. Hopefully by the end of the summer I'll be back in my skinny clothes.

Yes. After a while I fit into some of my old pants/jeans, but my body is just different. I just sold a bunch of my old stuff on ebay and made some $.

Re: Did you have to buy a whole new wardrobe when you went back to work after maternity leave? None of my work clothes fit.

I did not fit into any of my clothes pp but I absolutely refused to buy good quality clothes in a bigger size, so I went and bought 2 pairs of cheap pants (black & brown) and 3-4 cheap tops and rotated them for about 3-4 months.

I felt horrible about myself because I looked sloppy and felt fat.

Then one day, there was a huge sale at Ann Taylor, so I splurged and bought a couple of really nice things in a bigger size. And you know what? After I did that, I felt 1000x better about myself and realized that letting myself look sloppy was really hurting my self-esteem.

At that point I took as much care in dressing myself as I did pre-baby and it made me feel so much better, which motivated me to lose weight, and join the gym again.

Finally 14 mos pp, I am back in all my old clothes. But I have to say, it was that splurge into nice clothes that gave me the push I needed.

I always thought that buying nice things in a bigger size meant accepting that I was going to stay at that size forever, but the exact opposite happened. looking good and put together boosted my self-esteem and made me want to get back to my old size so much more.

Now I have all those "nice" new clothes that I wore for maybe 3 months sitting in the closet collecting dust, so, was it was a waste of money? Absolutely? But I feel like it was worth every penny to kickstart my self-esteem again.

I did too. I went up one size after my first pregnancy but the weight was distributed totally differently than it was before I got pregnant.
Then I got pregnant again! Chat Icon During my second pregnancy, I gained very little weight so i was back in my pre-pregnancy size(from my 1st pregnancy) very shortly after Chat Icon Chat Icon My reward for getting down in weight was new clothes

OK, in reality, since I am now a SAHM, I needed new clothes anyway but this was how I justified it anyway Chat Icon
