Did you hire a photographer for your DC's christening?
Im torn! I would like nice pictures of the day but my wedding photographer is way too expensive and Im afraid to use someone I havent used before.
Did you use one if so were you glad you did? If you didnt-- do you regret it?
ETA: If you did hire a photographer did you have them for just the ceremony or the ceremony and the reception? Also if you dont mind sharing- what was the appx cost and who did you use-- please feel free to FM me if you prefer.
Thanks!

Re: Did you hire a photographer for your DC's christening?
We did not, no regrets whatsoever, my brother is a super photographer (amateur) and he got some wonderful pics. Between him, other friends and my own camera I have more than enough from the day. This seems to be a new "thing" for Christenings, but honestly I couldn't see spending $500+ for the photog and prints from the Christening, with all of the expenses that first year throws at you, kwim?

No, it never even occurred to me. There were plenty of people taking pictures, and we gave our camera to my sister and asked her to take pictures for us that day.

Re: Did you hire a photographer for your DC's christening?
Yes and we couldn't be happier!! Not only do we have beautiful shots (both journalistic and set-up) no one had to worry about did we get this shot or that shot. All my family and friends were able to sit, relax and enjoy the day. We used Jennifer Wilbur and have been using her ever since. Can't say enough great things about her. IF you have the money, it's an investment worth the while.

Re: Did you hire a photographer for your DC's christening?
Not for her baptism. We have plenty of nice pictures from the day, so I don't feel like we missed out by not having one. I am, though, having someone photograph her birthday. I wouldn't hire a "professional" photographer, but a friend who is looking to build her portfolio will be doing it for us. I want to enjoy the day and not worry about having the camera in my hands all day.

Re: Did you hire a photographer for your DC's christening?
I didn't for my first & won't for my second. We could afford it if we wanted it... but we took some pictures after church (gave our camera to a friend) & some casual shots at dinner (I took them myself) & there is not so much more IMO you need.
We really take billions of pictures. The best ones are the rare expression my dad will capture after getting a million posed shots.

Re: Did you hire a photographer for your DC's christening?
Yes we did, its a once in a life time occasion and we went all out with her Christening. I don't regret my decision one bit. Our photographer is a vendor on here (Leslie Simmons) and she did an amazing job capturing all the details of that day.

Re: Did you hire a photographer for your DC's christening?
we did. her christening was on sunday so i have not seen them yet, but i am so happy that i didnt have to walk around with a camera taking pics. we had a decent amount of guests so it would have been too much.

Re: Did you hire a photographer for your DC's christening?
Absolutely! I hired Guy Chan, LOVED his work....he did an amazing job at home while we dressed him and at the ceremony.
There is NO WAY we would have gotten such precious, candid and artful shots that we will treasure forever had we not hired a photographer.
Here's a sample of an image that only a photog could have captured....image quality below is inferior as I had to resize. Image Attachment(s):

Re: Did you hire a photographer for your DC's christening?
We didn't though I *kind of* wish we did. At the end of the day we really do not have that many pics. I thought we would be okay with friends & family taking pics but for the most part the pics that were taken suck. I only have a handful of pics with DD in her dress with DH and I.
If it's affordable for you, I say go for it. But if it becomes a bit too much of an expense, try and ask a friend/family member to try their best to be a photog for you that day.

Re: Did you hire a photographer for your DC's christening?
No, but the baptism was not really important to me - I only did it with #3 for my grandma and aunt. For #1 and #2, I wanted to have them baptised, but the actual event was not a huge deal to me. Religion never really played a big part in my life.
ETA: Since i am a photographer, I took "formal" pics of #3 in her dress a few weeks before the actual event.

Re: Did you hire a photographer for your DC's christening?
I used Michelle McFadden for #2 and I love, love, love the pictures. They are still some of my favorites. My father passed away 3 months later so I cherish so many of them.

ETA: If you did hire a photographer did you have them for just the ceremony or the ceremony and the reception? Also if you dont mind sharing- what was the appx cost and who did you use-- please feel free to FM me if you prefer.
Saw your added question. We had her for 3 hours, started at home getting the baby dressed, all through the ceremony and then a little afterwards for formal family shots. That was all I wanted. The party I was ok w/ family and friend shots.
