Did you share your potential baby names?

ETA: I guess I would be hurt if people made comments about the potential name of our child.

We told people our name for a boy and name for a girl. It really doesn't matter to us what other people think about them!

We were sharing until my mother (of all people) heard our name for a girl and said "where on earth did you come up with that?' in a very snide tone.

We are not sharing anymore - too many unwanted comments. As my one SIL said - no one will have the guts to comment after the child is born and already has a name. Now, everyone thinks they have the right to offer their $.02.

And I wouldn't recommend it to anyone unless you are looking for unwelcomed, untactful and really 'out of place' comments.

I am sure after a couple of 'negative' comments I would start to doubt myself and stress over what to do, or finding new name. In the end, you can NOT please everyone. you just can't!

On the other hand, once your baby is in your arms, and you tell them her/his name, no one will care because they will be smitten by the baby. Thats JMO.

We did, and i waivered a bit b/c i hated the way people pronounced it, but now i don't care. its the original boy name we chose when we first started dating and talked the what ifs....

We shared and a few people gave funny looks or turned up their nose but oh well!! It's staying!

No, we didn't share. We did tell people the sex of the baby and we wanted to save something for after I deliver. Also, there are susperstitions about uttering the baby's name before the baby is here.

Yes, and when we told MIL that we were going to name our little girl Cassidy, she said "Oh, well you still have time to change your mind"

We did and got some nasty comments. We like the name Chelsea and a few people said "EWWW like Chelsea Clinton?!" Um no not like Chelsea Clinton but whatever.

At first it bothered me. Now I don't care anymore. If someone says something rude I tell them that I think they are mean for saying the rude comment. Usually that shuts them up.

I told everyone that I was having baby Noah. My MIL said "oh but won't he get made fun of in school, like with the ark and all" so I said to her, Lady, do you think girls named Mary gets called Mother of Jesus in playground chants??? No way.

Now one of the girls at Nursery calls him "Noahs Ark" and I think its really cute!

I did, but kind of wish I didn't. It stings to hear "oh God no!" or "Why would you name your baby that !"

We have told people our DD's name that we choose. We really do not care if they like it or not. The most important thing is that we LOVE her name.

2 years ago my MIL told me she didn't like my choice for a girls name. I didn't care then and I don't care now.

Since we just found out I'm having a girl people have been asking and we've been telling. My BIL who has no manners whatsoever said flatly "oh. I really don't like that name. Reminds me of my ex-girlfriend." He's just lucky he said it to DH and not me because I would have told him off. I have no patience.

we will not be sharing any potential names, we just don't want to hear the comments. But we will entertain other people's ideas for names...

Ever since seeing the episode of Sex and the City where the old friend "stole" Charlotte's dream name, I said I will never tell anyone else what names I am thinking of- esp. since most of my friends might be pregnant the same time as me

Nope. We have some opinionated family members (and some friends) so we are choosing not to.

ETA: But we are also not telling so we can have SOMETHING as a surprise, since everyone knows the sex.

I tell anyone who asks. But I guess I am in the minority that I have not received one negative comment back.

Yes, and the only person who had the nerve to tell me she didnt like it was my mother. She has no problem voicing her opinion.
My response to her was "That is going to be her name and you will just have to get used to it."
After I hung up the phone with her....I cried.
Now she loves Taylor and her name as well.

We haven't begun name discusions yet, but I plan to share the names.
I have no problem telling people where they can put their nasty opinions.

ETA- I told DH my choice for a girls name, and he doesn't like it. I told him to get used to it.

We knew which names we would use for either a girl or a boy. Once we knew the sex, we shared the name. We did not leave room for discussion. We just said that was going to be his name.

We weren't going to tell people...then so many people asked I just gave up. I've had a couple of people tell me they don't like the name and I would feel hurt. My dh on the other hand told me who cares its not their baby. So, now I pretty much have that same attitude.
