We do it ourselves. It just means that the water is drained from the system to avoid freezing.

We hook our air compressor and blow it out. I don't think its that expensive for someone to come do it.

What she said.

It typically costs about $40-50 for someone to do it for you. Your landscaper will do it.

Yes we have someone come to do it. I'm not sure of the $$ but it's not that much. We did it in Oct last year and I wished we waited til Nov because some of our fall flowers were still in bloom

I agree. We paid the first year but now DH does it with a compressor.

We pay $50. We don't own a compressor and DH is not handy. We winterize late like early Nov.

DH does it with an air compressed. It gets all the water out of the lines so they don't freeze

Yes, it is very important to blow out the lines so the leftover water in them doesn't freeze and crack the pipes during the winter. It's about $50. You don't have to use whatever company the previous owners used if you can find a better deal somewhere else.

A lot of companies do a "contract" that includes the winter blow out and then the re-opening of the system in the spring.

Yes you have to do this each fall, call a sprinkler company it's like $50 or you can buy an air compressor and do it yourself

It's about 50-65. I pay a company to do it. You have to get it done before the lines can freeze. We usually get it done in oct/ nov.

I pay them because when they open (yes they open and close the system) the system they can replace any heads that are broken and fix any leaks. I use RPM sprinklers in Suffolk.

We do it ourselves. I had a company come for a few years. Everytime they came they found problems. Since we don't use them there are no problems. NONE. I really think they were making stuff up. My 50$ services cost me hundreds every year. They didn't ever find anything in the fall. Just the spring.
