Dieting and your DH
Anyone want to smack their DH's in the head sometimes in regards to their "support" of you diet? I know that just because I'm dieting doesn't mean he has to, but seriously? There were two bags of cookies in the house and he went food shopping this afternoon. I guess Pepperidge Farm was on sale because there are now FOUR packages of those cookies in addition to the two that are already there
Thanks babe

Re: Dieting and your DH
Oh can I sympathize with you! My DH makes it very hard for me to change my lifestyle to eat healthier b/c he doesn't want to.
If, GOD FORBID, I make whole wheat pasta and don't make him his own regular, he will totally freak out - 2 year old style. If I make a WW dessert for a party so that I can enjoy too, he makes sure he announces to everyone that it's WW and then nobody eats it, when meanwhile, it still tastes good! Same goes for if I make a low fat dip or whatever, he tells everyone. It makes me so mad! Nobody would know the difference otherwise!
No matter how many times I've discussed this with him, he says "People should know what they are eating." Yes, people should know what they are eating but he makes it sound like I put arsenic in the food!

Re: Dieting and your DH
OK - you win - your DH sounds worse than mine! He has never announced to anyone that food is low-fat but 99% of the time, he will balk at eating something that is lower-fat, etc. I tell him that he would never even know the difference if he didn't know it wasn't full fat.
Meanwhile, guess what else I found? Chocolate in the freezer

Awwwe Miki
I have to say DH is 100% on board with me and what I need to be successful. Like you said, just cause your dieting doesn't mean he has to as well. I just had a serious talk with DH in the beginning - I said it is tremendously hard for me to have my "trigger" foods around so he switched from potato chips to pretzels and stopped buying cookies. I know he sacrifices things he may want to eat for the sake of my sanity and I really appreciate it. I think losing weight would be nearly impossible for me if I had a DH that didn't fully support me

My DH is even worse than me. He drives me nuts in the opposite way- he freaked out because he asked if there were carbs in broccoli and I said "yes a few."
He goes back and forth constantly on what he does and does not eat. It makes it difficult to plan meals

Re: Dieting and your DH
At first, it was really hard with DH. I actually gained weight when we first moved in together I did find a few things that helped:
- I do the grocery shopping so I would pick him up treats that I could resist. He loves ice cream so I would get him rocky road which I can live without. I could never buy him cookies and cream cause then i'd eat it all! - I also started cooking healthy and he had no choice but to eat it or make his own dinner. He was a little wary at first but now he loves the food I make, even if it is healthy - Last and most importantly he saw how hard I was working and ended up being really supportive and proud of me. I hope this helps a little and your DH comes around soon!

Re: Dieting and your DH
Mine is HORRIBLE.
He's 6'1'' 169 lbs marathon runner.
the guy eats NONSTOP. everything revolves around eating.
I guess I did not realize this when I was working and not around him all the time.

Re: Dieting and your DH
DH works out everyday and struggles to keep his 185 lbs on his 6' frame. He's all muscle and pretty much eats however much he wants.
But he's very supportive of me and will eat whatever I cook and is even loving the WW ice cream treats. I buy him stuff I don't really like.

Re: Dieting and your DH
It's not so much my DH, but the snacks I buy my kids. Yes, they eat SOME healthy snacks, but they eat have some cookies and other goodies in the house too. Im usually good about it, because Itell myself they need these snacks for school.
