Re: Disability Abusers
Yes ETA: What makes it worse is that they offered this person a settlement - 1 large lump sum. And the person turned it down! Saying they would get more money if they stayed on Disability for the next few years over taking the settlement.

Re: Disability Abusers
I have never known anyone but I work next to Victoria's secret and these 2 girls were outside on a smoke break. They obviously worked at Vickys bc they had the black suits and name tags on. Well, I heard one say to the other "Oh, I'm so glad I've got medicaid to pay for it" or something along those lines and she referred to her welfare payments too. I dont understand how she was doing this if she worked at Vickys.

Re: Disability Abusers
A neighbor of ours has been out on disability for about 6 years. He spends his days working on his house (seriously physical labor), or jet skiing. One day he might just hurt himself for real!

Re: Disability Abusers
I always thought those people can't do physical labor in public b/c if they get caught they are in big trouble. The person I know wont even be caught carrying groceries or cutting the grass!!! They only do things inside the house where no one can see.

Re: Disability Abusers
I used to work with a woman who went out on disabilty. She was about my age and supposedly suffering from anxiety brought on by her teaching job.
As a teacher myself, it is stressful and probably more in the inner city school we're in. But if it's caused something to snap in you where you really can't work, then teaching's not the field for you.

Re: Disability Abusers
There is a guy here who goes out on disability for three months our of every year for a back injury. Funny thing is, he makes sure the three months are a whole season, so he's had a winter, a spring and a summer off.

Re: Disability Abusers
People who scam the system really PI$$ me off.
My Dad became disabled (partially paralyzed) at the age of 57. His left arm is paralyzed completely (he was a lefty) and his left leg is very week. He also lost the ability to speak conversationally, to read and to write. He has made great strides but will never be the same and will never be able to live on his own and can't go out on his own.
It gets me crazy that my Dad never took a sick day his entire career and these LAZY !@#$'s are cheating the system.
It takes my Dad over 15 minutes to get dressed every morning but he does it all himself. And he "exercises" his limbs for an hour a day.
These LAZY !@#$'s wouldn't last 5 minutes in his shoes... oh, or his leg brace that he must wear either
GRRRRRRRRRRRRR

Thanks he was and still is a GREAT man.
If he met any of these people, despite his disability, he'd probably kick the ever living @#$% out of them. He always says (it takes him a full 30 seconds to say it), "one are bad, one arm good" when he teases me as if he wants to clock me one for being sarcastic
