Glad they corrected it swiftly. Too bad they are there all because Trump invited and incited violence and his followers killed an officer and threatened the lives of Pence and Pelosi and others . :(

Maybe our new president could have been on top of this and not allowed them to be put there in the first place.

“This is outrageous, shameful, and incredibly disrespectful to the men and women keeping the U.S. Capitol safe and secure.” Couldn’t agree more with this senator! I’m glad they’re rectifying this and looking into how this was decided because it should have never happened.

Re: Disgusting
"The National Guard Bureau, however, said earlier Thursday the troop relocation was temporary because Congress is in session.
"The National Guard continues to assist and support the U.S. Capitol Police. As Congress is in session and increased foot traffic and business is being conducted, Capitol Police asked the troops to move their rest area. They were temporarily relocated to the Thurgood Marshall Judicial Center garage with heat and restroom facilities. We remain an agile and flexible force to provide for the safety and security of the Capitol and its surrounding areas," the National Guard Bureau said in a statement.
Pittman said Friday that all National Guard troops have now been relocated to space within the Capitol complex. "The Department is also working with the Guard to reduce the need for sleeping accommodations by establishing shorter shifts, and will ensure they have access to the comfortable accommodations they absolutely deserve when the need arises," she added."
It looks like they were moved temporarily. Thankfully senators took action and the situation was resolved as they never should've been moved in the first place.
It's sad they even have to be there in the first place after the mayhem that happened 2 weeks ago.

How temporary was it? And I agree, they shouldn’t have been moved there to begin with, even if it was just temporarily. Also considering they called for a great number of National Guard, why couldn’t they think of resting/sleeping arrangements? I just can’t even imagine how anyone could allow this to happen. Now it seems that there’s contradiction regarding who made this decision.

Regardless, it doesn't justify what happened to them.
We all argue that we need to come together and yet we are two days into the new administration and we are trying to justify wrong doings by comparing to the previous administration.
Glad the situation was fixed but the whole situation is disappointing.

Re: Disgusting
https://www.politico.com/news/2021/01/21/national-guard-troops-vacate-capitol-461220
Thousands of National Guardsmen were allowed back into the Capitol Thursday night, hours after U.S. Capitol Police officials ordered them to vacate the facilities, sending them outdoors or to nearby parking garages after two weeks pulling security duty ... “Just made a number of calls and have been informed Capitol Police have apologized to the Guardsmen and they will be allowed back into the complex tonight,” added Sen. Tammy Duckworth (D-Ill.), who lost both of her legs in combat. “I’ll keep checking to make sure they are.” ... Brig. Gen. Janeen Birckhead, the Guard’s Inauguration Task Force commander, confirmed in a statement to POLITICO shortly after midnight that the troops were out of the garage and back into the Capitol building as authorized by the Capitol Police Watch Commander. They will take their breaks near Emancipation Hall going forward. ... On Friday morning, Capitol Police Chief Yogananda Pittman insisted in a statement that the department “did not instruct the National Guard to vacate the Capitol Building facilities.” ...
I'm sure (I hope) this will be investigated to find out who and why this was done.

In light of what took place a few weeks ago it makes all the sense in the world to take extra precautions until we know that all threats have been mitigated. Better safe than sorry at this point in time. Once tensions calm over the coming weeks the heightened security hopefully will not be needed.

They are not needed anymore and there was no reason for them to be pushed out like that after using them. If this is how the new administration is, it is scary for our troops.

You know what's also scary? Russia putting a bounty on our troops heads. What did Trump do about it? I'm having a hard time remembering what actions he took. Just wondering because I don't remember if you made a post expressing your outrage at the time. And then there was that time he called them all losers and suckers. And the time he told a war hero he likes soldiers that don"t get captured. And the time he said he deserved a purple heart. And the time he attacked an actual purple heart receipent. There may be other instances he dishonored our military and treated them like disposable trash. It's hard to remember them all. Remember that word you used - hypocrisy? Do you know the definition? It can be used over and over with your posts.

That is a nice gesture. It's the least he could do since they're there because of him in the first place. Maybe he could've offered up his hotel to begin with.
