Disney - Disability Access Service

If you have utilized the Disabilty Access Service at Disney, do you believe it helped? My son has ADHD and I’m nervous about going to Disney for the first time!

Yes, they give you a return time to come back to the ride. But, be warned. My friend tried to get one for ADHD and they denied her. She had to continue on that she has sensory issues, and THEN they gave it to her. We never have a problem getting one for my son, who has Autism. We just renew it each time we go, and they don't ask any questions anymore.

Thank you for the heads up! My son also has sensory issues, but never would have thought to mention it as it's not recognized as a diagnosis. I looked further into Disney disability policy and read on their site that they are modifying the guest assistance program and "hope it will help control abuse that was, unfortunately, widespread and growing at an alarming rate." How disgraceful that people would do abuse it!

Yes we used it when we went to Disney last year for our son. We wouldn't have been able to do Disney without it. It basically works like a fast pass but your return time is the current wait time for the ride so you don't have to physically stand in line. As far as I know they do not ask for diagnosis, just a reason why you or your child cannot stand in a line. I can understand if they start to require a doctor's note though because I know a lot of people abuse the system just to get ahead.

Yes, we have used it. Like others said - you have to explain why your child can't wait in lines. It was super helpful! But know it is a return time so it could be a while later that you come back for the ride and you can't make another one until that one is over. Last year we used it for FOP ride in AK and the return time was so long that we went back to the hotel, ate and returned later for the return time! THat was the only one that long though. For the most part it was an average of 45 minutes/hour for the longer wait rides

We got a DAS pass for my 4 year old daughter due to a medical condition. I didn't give them a reason why it was needed. I said, "I was told by a cast member that I can get a DAS pass here for my daughter due to a medical condition." They didn't ask any questions and just set it up for us and our whole party (7 people). My daughter has kidney issues and had just had surgery 3 weeks prior with stents in place. She wasn't capable of standing on line for long periods of time. She could need to go to the bathroom at any minute. They also gave us a tag for the stroller so that she could stay in the stroller on lines and we didn't have to leave it in the stroller parking area.

It was SO helpful. Nothing to be nervous about! It basically works like an additional FastPass. You go to the cast member working the line entrance and say you'd like to set up a DAS pass. They scan your band and give you a time to return, depending on the current wait time of the ride. You do not need to return AT that time, just has to be after that time. The pass is good for the rest of the day. So say the current wait time is an hour long and you get your DAS pass at 1:00. They will say to come back at 2:00 or later and then when you return, you would go onto the FastPass line. The DAS pass is good for your whole party. Once you use the DAS pass, you can get another one, but you can only have one active at a time. It is totally separate from your FastPasses. My daughter LOVED Toy Story Land and between DAS and FPs, she was able to ride Slinky Dog at least 5 times throughout the week.

Also, just in case you didn't know, if you are park hopping, you can make a return time at guest services in one park for another park. For instance, we were at Hollywood Studios, and got a return time for Frozen over in Epcot.
