Disney / Orlando
OK - so were going this year - DH and I are not HUGE ride people at all but would love to experience the not so crazy ones - I know alot of you have gone - Please recommend rides to go on at the parks???
What about places to eat and other things to do...
We decided to stay at Carribean Beach - but that could change - What are your opinions of that hotel ??
Thanks for any/all help...

Re: Disney / Orlando
Disney is great if you are not a crazy ride person - IMO most of the rides at disney are very tame and great for young and older people - my DH gets bad motion sickness on rides and loves disney - as do my parents.
Here is a list of pretty tame rides: At the Magic Kingdom: pirates of the caribbean splash mountain (one drop but otherwise is a tame flume ride) Haunted mansion its a small world winnie the pooh peter pan dumbo snow white buzz lightyear riverboat transit authority Just to name a few.
Epcot: The ride at the mexican pavillian living with the land the living seas pavillion all of the countries have an area with shopping, some have movies or shows etc (the ride is norway is pretty tame but the boat ride does have some drops - but is nothing like a roller coaster). ellen's universe of energy
Animal Kingdom Tree of life has a great 3D movie safari ride There is a white water raft ride that is fun Dinasour, Everest, and the mouse type coaster you will probably want to avoid. There are plenty of shows to see
Hollywood studios (old MGM) They have three rides you will want to avoid - tower of terror, rock n roller coaster and the star tours ride. Otherwise you would probably enjoy all the shows and the backstage tour and the other available attractions.
I stayed at the caribbean beach hotel back in 1993 - it was okay - the moderates are nice - but can be noisy b.c they have outside corridors and not interior corridors.

We just stayed at the Port Orleans Riverside (totally NOT recommended, and I wouldn't recommend the Port Orleans French Quarter either - cause they are run my the same managers), but anyway - they also have outside corridors.
I think it depends on where you are if it is going to be noisy.
We have stayed at the Carribean Beach and loved it. Our room was a little far from the food court and the restaurant - but it was a 10 minute walk, it wasn't bad. It might depend if you have children with you - where your room is. I don't know though.

I've heard good things about Carribean beach. We stayed at PO Riverside in Dec. and LOVED it- beautiful mod resort and our experience was awesome. I would definitely stay there again although I want to try Wilderness lodge on my next stay!

Re: Disney / Orlando
I cannot do rides at all: I mean, i get sick in the car and I still have a blast at Disney.
The ones to avoid if you get sick are: Tower of Terror and Star Wars at MGM Space Mountain and Thunder Mountain at Magic Kingdom Also, Alice's Tea Cups--- not scary, but they spin, so not good if you get dizzy. Test Track and Mission Space at Epcot
EVERYTHING else i was able to go on... I didn't think I missed anything!!! Disney's rides are more shows than anything else.

The moderates are fine - just as long as you know what to expect. They get 3*s from AAA. Yes they all have outside corridors. If you want an interior corridor you have to go with a deluxe.
I think any of the Mods are fine - just depends on your taste as to which one you will like best.

Re: Disney / Orlando
We just came back from The Carribean Beach and I wasn't to impressed. We had to get a room change because the carpet was filthy in our first room. I did like the ammenities though. The main pool is beautiful, nice food court & the beach front water rentals are fun. All 4 people that I went with agreed we wouldn't stay there again.

Re: Disney / Orlando
I just got back from a work trip yesterday. I stayed at the Yacht Club and if you can splurge, I'd definitely suggest that hotel, the Beach Club or the Boardwalk hotel. The Swan and Dolphin are right next store and are ok but nothing in comparison. We had a room that overlooked the water on the boardwalk with a balcony that was amazing! Location was great with walking distance to Epcot.
I definitely would suggest visiting the Boardwalk - you can get there by bus or by boat from epcot and hollywood studios. It's modeled after old-time Atlantic City but has an ESPN restaurant and great little shops.
Epcot - we drank our way around the countries and that is my favorite part.
Magic Kingdom - we did a lot at night during their extended night hours - the haunted mansion is really scary at that time.
Pleasure Island is a lot of fun - we just walked up and down the streets and shopped some more!
Have a great time! I wish I was back!
