Re: Disney 2018!!
We just got back from a last minute trip to Disney, stayed at the Yacht Club and it was great!!! We literally booked it a few days out, after moving our flights and hotel for our California trip to this Summer. The Yacht Club has undergone a room refurb this past fall, and the rooms are super nice, and we loved the hard flooring instead of carpet. We ended up getting a corner room, which had three large windows and a balcony. It was a HUGE room with a long hallway! We couldn't believe it! We have stayed there a few times in the past, and never knew of these rooms! We LOVE the pool there, and spent a lot of time in it! It's awesome for kids!! Walking or taking the boat to Epcot and Hollywood was super convenient. I will say, the MK bus stunk...but that has been the case with every single Disney resort we have stayed at. We park hopped, something we don't normally do. We actually went to all four parks in one day, exhausting, but we had a blast!!
We took advantage of mobile ordering our food a lot. The Dole Whip line was like 15 minutes long, I just tapped on the app, ordered, and picked up within a few minutes. We did that at a lot of quick service places, it was great!!
Fastpasses were slim since it was last minute, BUT, the modify option on the app proved to work miracles for us! We would select something, sometimes just anything, with a crap time usually, then go in and hit modify, then just keep refreshing on the time we wanted, and it would eventually come up, or come up for a little later than we wanted. You might have to tap it like 15 times, but worth it! We even had a Flight of Passage pop up, which was shocking. All of this is on the My Disney Experience App for those that don't know.

Re: Disney 2018!!
So a couple weeks ago we spontaneously booked a week in June. My DH was diagnosed with colon cancer in early February and we were super stressed and needed to something a little crazy. He loves Disney and really wanted to stay at Animal Kingdom Lodge. For the hell of it we put in some dates, got a good deal, and booked.
We figured we could always cancel if we came to our senses. Fortunately his cancer was stage one, he had surgery, and is cancer free.
I was able to get some good ADRs for places we'd wanted to visit last time, along with some for places we wanted to return to. We are really excited that the worst of the cancer thing is behind us, and that we have this to look forward to. More than once during the last few weeks it really helped to have this to talk about.

Aww, I'm glad he is cancer free! Enjoy!

Thanks for sharing! That pool is incredible for sure.
With the mobile app, I assume there is a separate line for pick up? Do you know if they have every quick service on there? I am so excited about this!

Re: Disney 2018!!
We leave in 51 days!!! All our ADR's and fastpasses are done! We got everything we wanted including Frozen and Fight of Passage. There was also a spring promo available so our room at POR got upgraded to a Royal Room and we got a extra day with our park hopper- and saved $$$. We are so excited and can't wait to be there!

There is a separate window to pick up mobile orders. I would NOT wait until you are at the window to hit the "here now prepare my food" button...unless it's ice cream orders.....hit it like 5 minutes before, that way it's ready when you get there. We did this on Small World, and then had our food ready at Pinnochio Village Haus after we got off!
Not every restaurant is on there!! In Epcot, none of the countries are, which stunk! But, if you go on the app now, you can play around with it and see. Just don't actually submit your order. It charges the credit card you have on file in your MDE account.

Great! Just as an FYI, you can walk over to the Yacht and Beach club and do their marshmallow roasting and movie on the beach. You don't have to be staying there. I know Boardwalk does it also, but it's nice on the beach at night!

Re: Disney 2018!!
We got back a few days ago from our trip We stayed at AoA in a Cars suite for a week. I ran the Princess 10K and Princess Half marathon while there.
If anyone has questions let me know.
My favorite experiences this time around were eating at CRT, which we haven't done in years and years and seeing the new MK fireworks show.
We had a terrible AK day and didn't really get to fully enjoy Pandora so we'll have to try that again next time.
We also ate at Sanaa for the first time (at AKL) and it was delicious! I like Jiko better though.

Disney 2018!!
Book a solo weekend in April. Going Friday coming back Sunday. Staying at Coronado and no parks or dining. I’m running the Star Wars 10k and half marathon so I decided it will be a weekend of running and pool time.

Disney 2018!!
We were there for February break and loved every second. It was crowded, but not insane. The weather was amazing, not a drop of rain! We stayed at AKL and it was a great resort, but honestly I wouldn't pay extra for the Savannah view. They have a viewing area, and windows in the hallways, we honestly didn't feel like we were missing out.
Pandora was awesome at night. We did not get on the banshee ride, but we fastpassed the river journey. It was nice, but not 110 minute-wait nice. We were glad we fastpassed it.
If you are looking for ADRs, keep checking up until your trip for cancellations! I scored 'Ohana the day before our trip for a great time (all I was getting was 9:55 PM).
Tusker House was a huge surprise as far as how good the food was. We were just looking for a character meal and didn't have high expectations.
DH and I have been there a bunch of times together, but this was DS's first time (we also went with DH's parents). He is asking when we're going back.

The pandora river ride is not worth 110 min wait but the banshee ride is worth any wait. By far the most amazing ride I have ever been on.

Re: Disney 2018!!
My in-laws just booked Aug. 21-28 for all of us. We've been there in August so we know how sweltering it is but it's what works with my and my MIL's work schedules.
Last time we stayed in a 2 bedroom villa at Saratoga Springs and it was awesome. Having the kitchen and especially the laundry in the room was a huge bonus, especially with the amount of sweat soaked clothes . This year, we are staying in a suite at AoA. I hope I wasn't too spoiled staying at a deluxe villa and now a value resort . I can't complain though since DH and I aren't paying--we're SO grateful. My daughter will be 4 so I'm sure she will love the theming of AoA. She was 2 last time we went.
I haven't even looked into ADRs yet or thought about FP since it was just booked on a whim.
