Re: Disney
hi jackie...
honestly, we werer just talking to an other couple about this, their kids are about 10 and 12....they were saying that every experience is great for kids,...they may not rememeber it but it has an impact and they enjoy it at the time...disney is expensive though so it depends...we may go for a day this summer since my coisin works for blue man in Orlando, he gets free tix for any of the parks in disney, universal, or sea world....how old will Derek be?

Re: Disney
DD was 2 1/2 and I thought it was perfect, I think they experience different things at different ages. She was so excited about all the characters and all of the rides she could go on. She was so excited that DH and I actually cried the first day although he won't admit it.

Re: Disney
We go every year since we have DVC and I have to say every time we go it is amazing. At every age both kids have had a blast but the best so far was this past May when my oldest son turned 4. He was so fun to watch and see all the excitement in his face. My younger son turned 1 and he was fine (they really make it baby friendly there) but definitely not the same experience for him. Last year when my son was 3 was good but lines were hard for him to wait in and he still needed naps so it was tougher trying to schedule around that. But truly, I think any age is great there as long as you plan accordingly (meaning if they are young, don't try to cram too much in each day, they can only handle so much!)

Re: Disney
We went when Hayley was 13 months old and my niece was 5. Hayley had a blast!!! She was great in the parks! She was eating table food at the time and drinking milk so I didn't have to worry about formula. She always looks at our Disney photo album and names all the characters. I can't wait to bring her back again!!!

5 or older
I agree.....that is when we are wating. I think they will not really remember at an earlier age. Plus i think it will be easier on us.

Re: Disney
I had originally thought about 4, but I'm thinking of taking DS this summer and he won't even be 2 yet. We're definitley going to Florida over the summer, probably twice, and we're debating whether or not to take him starting this year. When he was almost 1 we took him to SeaWorld and he seemed to enjoy that.

...and free at Character buffets I know they don't remember it, but *I* remember it! DS's first trip was when he was 2 and he had soooo much fun! He loved the characters AND the rides!

Re: Disney
A lot of what age is good depends on the child - I have friends who 3 year old hated it and others whose 10 month old loved it. We are taking DD when she is 15 months. My parents are coming which should make it easier. She does well with crowds etc - we took her to NYC to see the tree and when she wasn't sleeping in the stroller she was looking around and babbling away.
If you go with young kids though you need to take it on their pace and not do the commando full days at the parks. I think any age can do well if you take breaks, get naps in, build in down time and pool time.
If they are under 3 they are free.
