Disney FastPass & Rider Switch
Talk to me about Rider Switch. Say I have a group of 4 people that want to ride a certain ride. I can do a FP for 2 of them and then 2 people can stay with my 2 y/o and get Rider Switch passes and go on right after us? So it essentially increases the number of rides we can use FP on in one day, right? We go from each person having 3 FP each to really using 6 FP because we can have Person A & B use FP, C & D use Rider Switch for 3 rides and then use FPs for C & D and have A & B use Rider Switch passes for 3 rides? Is this right?? I know not all rides accept Rider Switch but a lot at MK do.

I am not 100% positive, but I'm pretty darn sure you need a fast pass per person. You can't really skirt the system. Even when you go to the fast pass line, there is usually a short wait. The rider switch probably makes it so you don't have to wait twice.

I just read it twice. I think I understand but it doesn't make sense to me. It doesn't sound fair at all.
So if DH and DS7 have a FP for Mine Train, I go with them to the FP line even though I don't have a FP and get a rider switch that allows me to ride later and DS7 will be able to ride twice?
Has anyone actually done this?

We were traveling with people who did that - they had a child that was too small to ride the ride so they used rider swap. The smaller child was with them so the ride operator could see.

I've done it, but we've always stayed on line together and then swapped when the 1st group got off. Does this mean that the 2nd group doesn't have to go on line until later? Are they still bound by the initial FP time?

That seems fair if everyone is in line together. It doesn't seem fair if only half the party has FP. I have now read that page 4x. Maybe it is just a loophole.
I did ride swap at Universal for the HP 3D ride. We actually walked through the castle, got into the single rider line and then DH and I took turns. Kids did not ride at all.

If the child is too small to ride, then they won't let you in the ride line at all with the child. So I don't know how they did that for you. Unless your child was just scared to ride, but was the correct height.
2nd group goes after the first gets off. They go in through the FP time. They would not even book a FP for the rider switch ride to begin with. Only the 1st part of the party that goes.
Yes it does seem like cheating! But it's allowed

No, DS7 will not be able to ride twice. The rider switch is for YOU to be able to ride after your DH, so that you can stay with a different child, (who cannot ride) while DH & DS7 are on the ride.
Even the explanation in the link tells you Disney states they only allow 2 on the rider switch. I have never seen more than one person get through on rider switch.

Re: Disney FastPass & Rider Switch
Not true. Ds7 will be able to ride twice. The switch pass allows the person who waited the first time to bring up to two more people on the ride with them when they take their turn. This is so that someone doesn't get stuck riding alone which wouldn't be very family friendly.
It's definitely a loophole in a way but keep in mind that those these families are getting more fps they are also inconvenienced by having to wait twice for their whole party to ride. For instance at a ride like Soarin it can easily take 30 minutes to do the ride even using the fastpass line. So a family with a child that's too small has to waste an hour on the ride unlike a family where everyone is tall enough and can be done in a half hour. So while it may seem like an unfair advantage it's not as great as you may think and I know from personal experience.

From what I've read, the person using the rider switch pass that is waiting with the child not riding the ride can take the child to a kiddie ride or something else that's close by while the first group is on the ride. They don't need to wait in line the whole time. Yes, you all have to show up together to get the Rider Switch pass but then once you have it, you don't need to stay at that ride. I also read that you don't need to use the RS pass immediately after the first group gets off the ride so if you took the child to something else nearby and you aren't back when the first group gets off the ride, it's ok. You won't lose the RS pass--it's good for the entire day so you can return at any time. So the family really isn't waiting for a ride twice or wasting much time.

Disney FastPass & Rider Switch
So when we went with my 5 yo twins and 3 yo this summer, my 3 year old was too small for a ride. We didn't have a fast pass for the ride but we went to see if my son was tall enough and since he wasn't they let DH go up the fast pass line with 5 yo DD (it was only a 2 seater ride) and gave me a fast pass rider switch ticket. then when they were done DH came down and he went right back up with 5 yo DS while I stayed with the other 2.

Re: Disney FastPass & Rider Switch
It's the best, DD5 loved all the thrill rides and DS2 was too small... we did rider switch over the course of our 10 days at Disney and had a stack of rider switch passes we used our last few days for a ton of different rides... so glad my son is tiny for his age and we can do this the next time we go

Re: Disney FastPass & Rider Switch
Ok , yes this does work. We have a baby and 2 older kids. The older kids got to ride certain rides multiple times because of the child swap passes (if we had fast pass) Universal studios does it differently , there is a room where you wait with baby and switch off. But in all parks the parent can take the kids with them each time they go, so they ride multiple times. They make it easy for parents with very small kids. In Universal, We went to the new Harry Potter ride and the staff member let us right in to the front because she saw the baby. We had such an easy experience traveling w baby and 2 older kids. I was kind of dreading this trip for months
Oh and the rider passes don't expire for like a month so you can use them at a later time if you want.

It totally can work this way...we just got back and honestly, the rider switch made it so we could ride everything with our older kids and not miss out. I didn't see that many people using it, but we find it to be a huge help.

We were able to use it too. Some rides asked to see my daughter and some didn't ask at all. The rider switch passes were good until the end of the month.
