Re: Disney magic
Hi Hillary!
This is a brand-new itinerary for Disney Cruise Line so until the beginning of June, we won't have any real life experience.
The Disney Magic is DCL's oldest ship and while I haven't sailed her, we have several clients who have and we've sailed the Magic's sister ship, the Disney Wonder several times, as well as the Disney Dream 3 times this year.
Though you can't beat the technology on the Disney Dream (and upcoming Disney Fantasy), the Disney Wonder is my favorite cruise ship.
You'll enjoy a smaller ship, fewer people, an experienced crew, and stellar kids clubs.
I have complete confidence that the NY clients we have booked for this summer's NYC cruises will have a marvelous time aboard the Disney Magic! If you have any specific questions about the Magic, DCL, or the itinerary, I'll be happy to help!

Re: Disney magic
Thank you...
I have one question.. They are already booked for early dinner seating so we are on a wait list. We are a little concerned that they will not be eating until 8:30 at night. We are on the wait list right now.. What has been your experienc ewith this...

Hillary, it actually worked great for us! Our daughter is normally an early bird so I was really worried about having late dining on our first Disney Wonder cruise.
DCL offers a program called "Dine & Play" for those families with late seating. You tell your server you're going to participate in "Dine & Play" then they'll bring the children's meals early while you're enjoying your appetizer.
About 45 minutes later, you'll see the yellow-shirted Youth Program Cast Members walk through the dining room. That's your cue to take the kids to the front of the room where the CM's will check the kids into the kids' club - right there! - and take them to play while you finish your dinner.
You can pick them up right after dinner or, as we do, check on them and get shooed away because they're having too much fun and don't want to go with you!
Now we actually request late seating!

Re: Disney magic
We took a cruise also on the Disney Wonder during Christmas week a few years back. OMG! Awesome cruise! Not sure how old your children are but their kids club is phenomenal! My son, who normally would rather stay with us, literally couldn't wait for meals to be over so that he could go back to the kids club.
ETA: We booked the day at Atlantis through the cruise. It was okay (we've been there before). They give you a voucher for lunch but it was for the concessions by the pool. They do have a great children's water park and lazy river that the kids will love. Their private island, Castaway Cay, is very nice. We had a better time there then at Atlantis. They have the Pirates of the Caribbean ship docked in the bay.

Re: Disney magic
The POC ship is no more :( I'm hoping they add another one because the shot with the POC ship behind you and then the cruise ship in the background was fabulous!
These snapshots are from the Thanksgiving 2010 sailing aboard the Wonder and by the time I returned in January 2011, the entire thing was gone.

Re: Disney magic
Wow, really? Wonder why? It was such a cool thing to see. Made you think you were really on an island inhabited by pirates. I remember they had "Jack Sparrow" walking around the island entertaining the guests, too.

Re: Disney magic
It wasn't meant to stay there long-term, so it was slowly falling apart. That's why we're hoping they'll install a new, made-for-the-spot POC ship soon!
