Disney over Christmas break?
Has anyone done it? Is it a complete and utter madhouse? I'm not THAT concerned about lines for the rides because we usually get a GAC for my child with special needs. I just don't like wall to wall people though. Is it comparable to Thanksgiving crowds? Am I crazy for even contemplating this?

I also have gone in the beginning of January during school and it was fantastic! barely any waits!! and I spoke with staff who said it was the best time of year to go in terms of little crowds (I would not even call it "crowds") Can you wait until then????

I try to piggyback along school vacations because I have 2 in school now. That way they will only miss a couple of days instead of a week. We might just go February break mid-week instead to mid-week instead! I think I had a moment of insanity contemplating it. And well then I checked the airfare and it's like $700 per person

Re: Disney over Christmas break?
We went during February break and it was GREAT! Weather was so nice, not too busy until lunch time, mornings were empty. And even when it was busy it wasn't that bad.

Parks are at a 10. Many days they sometimes close to capacity. 1st to off site then to onsite guests. I am dying to go over the holidays because we went in Jan one year right after New Years and the decorations are gorgeous. Then I speak with someone who tried it and said it was crazy wall to wall people. One friend said spring break was better.

Disney over Christmas break?
Yes, it's insane. That said, we have multiple families who go EVERY YEAR between Christmas and New Years. All started due to limited vacation time options (mostly teachers) and now they go by choice. You have to know how to work the system, pre-plan, and do it WELL, but it's definitely doable if you go in with the right attitude.

We are going two weeks after Thanksgiving. All the decorations are supposed to be out and it's supposed to be one of the least busiest times of the year.

We have went numerous times in November and the decorations were always up. Last year we went the week leading up to Thanksgiving and they had everything out. Probably because the Holiday Party starts early. We also saw the Osbourne Lights display the day before Thanksgiving at HS.

If you want to see ALL of the Christmas stuff, you have to go in December. Candlelight Processional and Holidays Around the World at EPCOT don't start until after Thanksgiving and the Tree at Magic Kingdom doesn't go up until after the parade taping, just in case that matters to you. Regular Christmas decor and Osbourne Lights start the 2nd week of November though.
Christmas week is the busiest week of the year. There WILL be wall to wall people and parks do have capacity closures. Some people LOVE it though and if you have a good plan and the right expectations you can have a great time. Lots of excitement and entertainment!
