Re: Disney Very Merry Christmas Party

Early December is one of my favorite times to go to Disney World.Just choose your dates carefully or work with your TA to do so. If you're staying on property and hoping for Free Dining, it historically has not been offered during Pop Warner Week.

Also, depending on your week, it's better if you can schedule your MVMCP for AFTER the Christmas parade is taped (usually 1st weekend in dec) so that the huge Christmas tree will be up at Magic Kingdom. Let me know if you have questions about the dates.

I love MVMCP. We've been twice. It's a lot of fun. I love the snow on Main Street.Seeing the holiday version of Wishes and The magic the Memories and you, brings tears to my eyes. It's also a great time for character hunting.

It's an expensive ticket though and the lines for rides aren't always short so you should know what you are getting for the price

1) Entrance to MK as of 4pm until the party ends at Midnight (You will not need separate park admission for this event. Some people choose to do DTD or tour the resort Christmas decorations on this morning/afternoon so they don't need a park ticket)

2) Limited crowds. They're not always low crowds. Go on Tuesday if you can, rather than the weekend. You can ride many rides as a walk-on, but I don't find that it's worth the $60 per ticket if rides are all you're after

3) Hot cocoa and sugar cookies. It's unlimited and served at several locations throughout the park

4) Exclusive character meet and greets. This is one of the few times you can meet all 7 dwarfs, Rapnzel AND Flynn Rider, etc. And most charcters will be in Christmas/Winter wear.

5) The parade and snow on main st.I just LOVE the toy soldiers. Seeing them makes me feel so happy.

6) Holiday Wishes, which uses perimeter fireworks, so the fireworks will be allaround you.Truly amazing. Tip: try to get a dinner reservation at Cali Grill or 'Ohana to watch this from there to see the whole show. Or watch from the beach at the Polynesian (this is on a night you don't have party tickets of course)

7) Access to exclusive merchandise.

I think it IS worth it, but it's just one of many things we enjoy about the holidays at Disney World. While I might go in October just for MNSSHP I would not make a trip just for MVMCP is that makes sense.

I absolutely LOVE Candelight Processional. If there is a hot narrator especially, you should consider a package

I have a ball with Holidays Around the World at EPCOT

I could spend hours staring at the Osbourne Lights (and looking for the cat!). Try to make it to the lighting one night. It's really beautiful.

Going around to see the resort Christmas decorations is also great fun. My favorites are the Grand Floridian and Animal Kingdom Lodge.Yacht and Beach Club also have great displays but I haven't been there for them. it's an easy walk from EPCOT.

I absolutlely LOVE Disney World in early December. On my facebook page I have 2 albums from that timeframe. One in 2007 and one from 2011. LOVE LOVE LOVE it!

Re: Disney Very Merry Christmas Party

We have never been so I cannot speak first hand. But we went to DIsney Dec10, 2010. I had every intention of doing the christmas party, but heard alot of complaints as to it being over crowded.

On one of the chat boards (disney related) they were saying that in past years they only sold say (cant remember exact #s) 5000 tickets each night but that year they sold (again example) 20K tickets.

I had read/heard good reviews of people who went in say 2008 and before.

Re: Disney Very Merry Christmas Party

As a former cast member that worked the holiday season I loved it.

I took DH for the first time this past winter. We really enjoyed ourselves.

We got to go on a lot of the rides, have cookies and hot cocoa and got a great seat for the parade.

I think if you have never been it's worth it.

Re: Disney Very Merry Christmas Party

We went to the Christmas Party in late November 2010, and we loved it. We got to go on a lot of rides without waiting and saw tons of characters (my DS got to dance with Chip and Dale, and Woody and Jessie from Toy Story). The parade was great, and the castle looked so beautiful. I loved the hot cocoa and cookies, and loved seeing the snow falling on Main Street. I would definitely go again - we had a great time.

I did it in 2007 and 2011. Tuesdays both times. I really didn't notice a difference in crowds. WHEN you go to the party makes a big difference. You also have to have the right expectations. I always tell people it's really not worth it just for the rides. Sure, you can walk on rides, and it gave us an opportunity to get a GREAT pic of the two of us alone on Splash Mountain on our Disneymoon, but if you're spending time going on rides, you'remissing the ambiance, the characters, etc.You can walk on rides at rope drop or the last 90 min of Evening EMH for free. You're paying 60 bucks for the fireworks, parade, snow, rare characters, etc. That's my opinion.

We were able to see the parade twice in December. Once from the outside seating at Pecos Bills - obstructed view, but very close and you can sit and eat dinner, and once from the hub. We got there about an hour before and sat got a great spot. Fireworks and parade spots ARE pretty crowded, but not prohibitively so.
