Disney Polynesian, anyone stay there?
Anyone stay at the Polynesian? I would love to hear first hand stories and ask some questions.
My main question is about getting a good room. I am worried some of the rooms will be too far from the Monorail stop.
Anything else you can tell me would be appreciated!

Re: Disney Polynesian, anyone stay there?
I've stayed there and absolutely loved it. The grounds are beautiful and it's so convenient to MK and Epcot.
Some people complain that the rooms are a bit dark and I'd have to agree with that, but it didn't bother me much.
I know nothing about getting a good room b/c we are not the type to request rooms. I think we stayed in Samoa when we were there. It was very close to the main building and a little bit of a walk to the TTC.

You or your travel agent can request specific buildings or my preference "close to monorail stop". Disney won't guarantee you'll get your request but they're good about it. Repeat your request at check-in, just to reiterate.

Re: Disney Polynesian, anyone stay there?
What view are you booking? We had a garden view our last trip. We got Roratonga. We wanted this building because one side entrance of the building is only a few short feet from the Great Ceremonial House. The GCH has all the food options, the monorail and the shops. It was a 1 min walk to the Volcano main pool. There was an entrance on the other side of the building that was only a few feet away from the Neverland club (if you have kids 4+ they have a program for drop off so parents can go out for an evening). The bus stop is right next to that. Also it was only about a 3-4 min walk to the TTC.
1st year we had ground floor facing the monorail - there were huge 10 foot high bushes so we had a lot of privacy but you could look up and watch the monorail go bye (we couldn't hear it unless we had our patio door open). The next year we were on the opposite side facing the courtyard on the 3rd floor.
This site has all the information on all of the buildings and has maps so you can look and see what appeals to you. http://www.tikimanpages.com/
One thing I would recommend is to request either a 1st or 3rd floor room. Check tikiman's site - but from my recollection either all the buildings that have 2nd floors or some of them - the 2nd floor rooms do NOT have balconies but they do have "fake ones". So if having a balcony is important then you want to ask for 1st or 3rd floor with a balcony or patio.
You can request any building and floor you want but it is only a request and you might not get it. The second time we didn't get the building we wanted - they couldn't have been nicer in putting us where we wanted to be. We have only had very positive experiences there.
BTW if your little one needs a life vest for the pool - if you go over to the boat building next to the pool they offer free vest rentals. They let us have one for the entire trip. It was nice to have at the pool and we saw lots of kids wearing them.

This page has a layout of the resort - so you can see where everything is.
