Disney promotions

Forgive me, I am a Disney newb. My friend is walking me through a lot of the details.

We are thinking of booking next year, late Sept-early Oct when kids have off 2 days for Rosh Hashanah and then we would pull them out of school for the other 3 days.

My friend told me it's way too early to book this now. We are planners. LOL. She said as it gets closer Disney will usually have some sort of deal/promo - dining or some room discount, etc. Does anyone know how far in advance they usually have this? TIA

You can book your room now, then modify it to get the discount if there is one. The discounts are released a few months in advance typically

THIS. I booked a trip a full year in advance... but even changed my resort due to free dining a few months before the trip, right after I did my ADR's!!

How did you do this? You called Disney direct and did it over the phone with them?

Also I know it's a $200 deposit and then that's it until final payment is due 30 days prior to the trip?

Disney promotions

I already booked for May 2019. If you know your dates and resort are set book it now, especially if you have a specific room type. When the promos come out you can modify your booking to get the promo prices or even change your resort or room type to fit the promo.

Also, not sure if you have a Disney Visa card, but I have a referral link that gives you a $200 statement credit once you get to $500 in spending. It’s a free $200. Plus you get one disney $ for every $ you spend.

I can fm you the link if you want it.

And yes. $200 deposit and nothing until 30 days when full payment is due. If you get memory maker now that you pay for now and is nonrefundable tho.

You can just do it online from your "My Disney Experience Account". I loathe calling Disney, so tend to do everything I can online!

Why book SO early?
Life may be different then.
I’d book when flights come out. You can still stay anywhere and will not lose your $200
Disney is weird. Most hotels will offer their MUCH cheapest rate if paying far in advance...
Disney expects it. Why would you book super early??? It just limits you and is beneficial to them!

You don’t lose the 200 if you cancel per their policy which is very generous imo. I booked for a run Disney race and cancelled my hotel and dining plan due to injury and got it all back. The only thing I lost was race fees.

Re: Disney promotions

I like to book early because it makes it “real”. It mentally locks the dates in for us, so we say no to the other commitments that may start to roll in a year before and sets us up for “hey this is really happening!”

Ahhh... well that’s a great policy.

I always balk to book when I have upfront fees to hold a reservation. Cancelled once with a cruise line, for Cancer surgery, with insurance, and had to lose $$$$.

I’m crazy about cancellation policies with 3 kids now (and out most recent trip was fortunately cancelled without penalty even though we literally cancelled reservations morning of at a 5 star hotel when a kid ended up in ER).

Personally, too much can happen in 2 years. I’d wait... but everyone is different!
