Disney vacation cost
For any of you who have traveled for a week to Disney, about how much did you spend in total, if you don't mind me asking. I'm going as a family of four, 2 adults, 2 kids. I guess I'm just trying to get a roundabout figure, so I know what I'm up against. As you can see, I'm in the beginning stage of all of this. Thanks so much!

Re: Disney vacation cost
Are you planning on staying on or off property? If you are staying on property, you can go to the website and price it out exactly.

Thanks, I'm probably going to look for on property just for the convenience.

Re: Disney vacation cost
If you would like, I can provide you with an accurate price quote with no obligation on your part. This quote will be pretty much in-line with what you see on the Disney site, but I may be able to offer some suggestions that could save you a little money.

Re: Disney vacation cost
I think it all depends on where you want to stay, if you choose the dining options, if it is included, etc.
We went to Pop Century 2 years ago. With the free dining (and not including airfare), I think it was about $2,300 for a family of 4.

Re: Disney vacation cost
There are so many variables. I'd probably try to get prices through a travel agent once you know what kind of Disney resort you plan to stay in.

best thing to do - go to the disney website and price it out. You can find out exactly what it's going to run.

Re: Disney vacation cost
Not sure when you plan on going - but what I do is:
Go to Mousesavers.com
That site does a couple of things - it will help you figure out how to save - what aspects are worth getting and what you probably don't need. You can also see historically when discounts have been offered. If you are not planning to go in the near future - there might not be a discount offered for that time yet - but for example you know you are going x month - there might always be discounts out that month but just not available at this time. You can book straight through disney - and watch mousesavers. When a code comes out it is immediately put up there. You just call disney and have the code applied to your reservation. It is very easy to do.
In the mean time - it is hard to tell you what you would spend - b.c it depends on when you want to go - where you want to stay, what you want to get in your package (do you want a hopper pass? dining?). Also children under 3 are free - so you say 2 children - it depends on their ages older children are adult prices - so that is another variable.
For now - if there are no discounts offered your best bet is to go to WDW website and you can price out ANY hotel with ANY features - then save them and you can compare say different category hotels and views etc to see better what you want and what it will cost.
The cheapest would be value resort- non preferred rooms with just the basic one park a day ticket with no extras and no dining package.
I personally think getting the park hopper is worth the money - b.c it gives you the option to go to two parks in one day and you are not stuck at only one park (you can go do AK in the morning and EPCOT or MK at night or say you go to Ak and LOVE it but want to go back you don't have to burn a full day to go back you can just go back for 2 hours if you want and still go to another park if you want.) I don't bother with the other options. You don't need them unless you want to go to one of the water parks.
Dining plan (the basic one NOT the quick service or deluxe) is generally a good deal BUT it really depends on your tastes, your personal preferences etc. If you think you want to go to some of the more expensive character meals OR you plan to eat the more expensive options at sit down a la carte places (steaks/fish) then you often come out ahead. However if you plan to only do sit down breakfasts and you only eat say pasta or chicken it might not be a good deal.
You can check out allearsnet.com
They have a menu section - that lists every single counter service, table service (and buffet) and cart in WDW - so you can see where you want to eat and evaluate if the dining plan is a good deal.
FM me if you have any questions or you want help.

Re: Disney vacation cost
We stayed at the AKL with tickets and meal plan it was a little over 5300. It was for my DD's 5th bday so we splurged. We went 3 years prior and stayed moderate for a little over 4k.

Re: Disney vacation cost
Including airfare (DS was a lap child and had free admission to the park and DD was not born yet) we spent 2500 for a week at the wilderness lodge including the disney dining program, gifts and incidentals. Just know under three is free and yes they track ages for the next time you want to go.
The longer you stay the less expensive park tickets cost. If you have a disney store in a mall near you, I think they sell discounted tickets or at least they used to, two years ago. Check out allears.net.

Re: Disney vacation cost
We stayed at the Grand Floridian back in May for 5 nights/6 days. We did the Park Hopper Pass and the meal plan (plus some character meals). I think all in we spent about $6K.
